After crash tabs labeling

I had a bad crash and had to reinstall DS. Now my tabs don't hav clear text lables (Library, etc) and have tiny hard-to-see icons instead. Can I revert to using text labels?

Not fully sure what you are seeing. A screenshot might help.

But try Windows > Workspace > Select Layout (and select a saved layout, if you have any, or a default) and see if that fixes it.

  • Sorted. Some options got ticked that I hadn't asked for... Thanks though felis :)

  • For those wondering, there are three options for panes(tabs) labeling now.

Text only, Icons only, or Icons and text.

The first is default, and the other two can be enabled/disabled via Window>Workspace>Show tab Icons and Show Tab Text With Icons.

If you enable Show Tab icons, no text will appear on your panes(tabs) only icons.

If you enable Show Tab Text with Icons, without the Show Tab icons option also selected, only text will appear. You have to enable both to get both.

As a side note, if you've carried over custom layouts from prefious verions of studio, it's possible these, and other, menu options won't be present.

I found this out recently, and had to rebuild my custom layout from the ground up to get all the newer menu options back.

I have been trying out the icons on the tabs and the major advantage is less space used along the edges and you can have more panes immediately available. But you do have to learn the icon image and I still find I have to remember what it is, or hover over it for the name. Part of my problem is I find my tabs rearranged from where I left them.

Have you tried Locking docking/undocking(CTRL+U) to preserve your tab placement between sessions?
