Fairytale dForce Dress G8F

SquishySquishy Posts: 707

A collection of models of ladies' dress, with long billowing sleeves, crew neck, and wide flared skirt, rigged in DAZ Studio for Genesis 8/8.1 Female, intended for use with dForce dynamic cloth simulation. All of these models share the same UV map and any textures for this item will work on any of them. A large assortment of Iray materials are included, as well as some shaders that allow for various degrees of transparency simulating thread weave. This model has less geometry detail than most of my others, but a higher polygon count; I have shifted over to this style because the geometry detail just makes these dresses harder to work with in more diverse shapes and I also wanted a wider skirt with more folds for a prettier drape. See readme for more info!

    Hi Squishy/Excessive,
First thank you for the nice freebies!
While testing your Fairytale dForce Dress G8F, I found some ugly Textures distortions in the breasts area.
I used Blender Magic UV add-on to rework the UV mapping (Unwrap Angle Based) and had quite a good result (see images).

Edit: I add the Blender (.blend) and .obj files.

Probably happened because I UV mapped the lowpoly base and then subdivided it, which generally is fine but not there it seems  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

No, I had to export your model at base resolution before rework it, otherwise Daz Studio does not accept the modified UV set and displays an error message.

I'm not talking about subdivision in D|S, I'm saying I subdivided it in the modeling phase before importing to D|S. I will redo the setup and release an update with corrected UVs. Don't waste any effort trying to texture this until then because the UV layout won't align perfectly. Thanks for reporting this :)

e: it will be pretty close in general island positions, if you're just doing ordinary flood fill textures, I mean anything that relies on precise layout

updates are in place, the links should be the same. please note that while the filenames are the same wherever it's reasonable, the geometry files have new internally-generated names and will not overwrite the original ones, which will just remain unless you delete them manually.

e: for some reason the redone version of the ankle length dress really, really wants to refer to an extra geometry file that I can't pin down how is being referenced, and I'm not super interested in manually editing file contents for this, so I included the extra file in the update.

The Renderosity files weren't updated, only your RenderHub link is ok (although I still prefer my own UV set).

thanks for checking that, it should be OK whenever it gets past Renderosity's approval.

Squishy, that's beautiful!    Looking forward to playing with it.
