Shadows Cast By Primitive Light Emitters - How To Get Them?

When I set the Environment Mode to Scene Only, and use Primitives (eg plane or cylinder) for my scene lighting, I do not get any ground shadows from objects or characters when rendering the scene. Shadows are shown if the Environment Mode is set to Dome and Scene, but when I add the plane / cylinder light emmiters the ground shadows dissappear. I have tried adjusting some of the Environment render settings, but seem unable to get ground shadows, can anyone suggest what I need to do? Thanks.

Do you have a ground to take the sahdows? By default the Dome enviornment options add a shadow-catcher, just under the lowest item or at the zero level, which is probably what you are seeing when not using Scene Only.
Richard, your comment is spot on! After posting this thread, I added a ground plane and the shadows from my light emitters appeared. So simple, but when you don't know!! Thanks for your prompt reply.
