I just bought Lake and Forest and when I render with the default "Ruins" HDR its still pitch black. I tried to amp up to the intensity but that didnt work. How do I get natural light to light this scene??? Please help!!

    Link?

  • This, I assume http://www.daz3d.com/nature-lake-and-forest

It includes a sky dome model and that is blocking all external light - delete it or turn its visibility off (there are tricks for keeping the dome, but it doesn't look as if it is adding a lot of detail).

Just to be sure...how do I turn off the dome so that I can get the natural light in? Or just delete it all together as you say? Either is fine, I just want the natural light, as far as I know, I never use the domes anyhow...

  • If you find it in the Scene pane it should have an eye icon next to it, click that to hide it. You may be able to click in the viewport to select it, but sometimes items like this are deliberatel made unselectable - once selected you can delete with the del key (as long as it isn't a bone in a figure containing stuff you want to keep) or use the Visibility control in Parameters to hide it (which is the same as clicking the eye icon in the Scene pane, but more convenient when you want to hide multiple items).

I tried leaving out one of the three items (by deleting them) and that doesnt work as the ground is left out when i do so...(the LOD1)
