Ansiko Newsstand and i13 Doctor's Office Environment in 4.8?

Hi, I am hoping someone can help.  I am unable to upgrade to Daz Studio 4.9 due to an issue with my virus software. I have decided to stick with 4.8 for now but I am interested in Ansiko's Newsstand and i13's Doctor's Office Environment. Has anyone used these successfully in 4.8?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Since both items support manual install and aren't encrypted you shouldn't have any problem using them in 4.8.

Although you may have to do some shader tweaking due to the problem in the iray version of 4.8

And just as an aside, what is the issue with the AV that prevents your upgrading?

  • Thanks so much for your reply DrunkMonkeyProductions, that is good to know. I noticed they were available unecrypted but wanted to check there wouldn't be any other issues. You have been a great help.

The issue with the AV is that 4.9 does not play well with zonealarm and I prefer not to change at the moment. I don't use the latest figures past genesis and often still use Daz Studio 3 for a lot of renders so upgrading seems a little futile if I can use most enviroments in 4.8.

    Thanks again for your help.

FragmentedFortunes: Have you submitted a ticket to DAZ concerning the Zone Alarm compatibilities with 4.9? It may not result in an immediate hotfix, but it would put the issue onto DAZ's radar...

PostgreSQL is known to ahve issues with ZoneAlarm - not just in DS but generally. There has been at least one report of a new update to ZA addressing this, but it isn't soemthing Daz can do anything about other than point you back to the publisher of ZA.

Are you using the Valentina CMS in 4.8, or re you running it with no CMS?

  • Hi mtl1, no I didn't submit a support ticket.  From what I have read here on the forums and other places the problem is known to both Daz and Zone Alarm with no plans to address it but I would be happy to hear if anyone knows different.

One person reported that when he contacted ZA support he was given a version of ZA which solves the problem.

Thanks for that Richard I had not heard of the report of an update. I hope it will be looked at by them at some point.

Thanks Fixmypcmike I will give contacting them a go. I have CMS running in 4.8 but I had a bit of a dance to get ZA to allow it.

  • Thanks for the info folks, vaguely remembered the issue with Zonealarm, but since i don't use any kind of AV for my computers most of those issues are non-existent for me.

Got to be too much of  a headache to go through all the permissions and the various incompatibilites with software i use. Simpler just to blow the whole thing out when it starts acting wonky.
