This image if from a promo at another store, but I'm trying to find the house used in here. I think it perfect for so many scenes. Hoping someone here has seen it. Thanks

Thought it could have been this one Harwood House, but comparing them I don't think so after all. They are fairly close though and perhaps a texture add on or shaders could make it look more in need of repairs and such
thanks...pretty close. I do have that. I never know what I've purchased.
The image is kind of small, so I can't tell for sure, but seeing some perspective issues with it makes me think it was a painted 2d image (or an AI generated one) rather than a 3d model.
Other stores use AI generated artwork for backgrounds andd various elements in their promo images. This may be a 3D model, but more likely it's an AI image.
I really, REALLY hope this practice doesn't bleed through to Daz store.
Other stores are actually SELLING AI generated images as background images for renders.
Well, if anyone at Daz is listening... This what sets you apart and one of the reasons I'm more likely to stick with you.
i was told at the other store it might be AI as well. Used in this manner really messes up the purpose of a store. You will never know again whatis really a product/model or not. Yes, extremely bad practice
But how is that any different from someone using a photo as a background? I'm no fan of AI, but in this use, it seems fine to me. Rendo pulled the image for their sale from the product page for the outfit pictured. You could always contact the vendor, Cybertenko, to find out where it came from.
thanks,. I find AI use to be akin to promo images that show a character with specific items on every image, but it doesn;t come with the character.
Again, I'm not following your concerns. People sell characters all the time with various outfits in various settings and most people understand the clothes, hair and background environment don't come with the character unless explicitly stated in the title or description. In this case, this promo was for an outfit that clearly listed in its description what was and what was not included.
I'm no fan of AI at all, but I still view this as a background picture a vendor used, which I think many of us do in our products(skylines seen from windows, etc.)
Now, perhaps this was a poor choice for the store to use for a sale(where, funny enough, that outfit is not part of), but I don't think the vendor did anything misleading or untoward in their product's promos. And I only know whose product it is because I recognized the creator's style of clothing and went looking to see if the house was something for sale, too. I think Harwood House is your best bet for something close, although it doesn't have the same rundown look as that image.
This might be a better fit for the house than Harwood House.

It is not derelict, but it is a lot more decrepit.
thanks. yes, this one is a lot better for sure
added to wishlist
I collect derelict and decrapit houses
@daveso, if you need to add another decrepit house to a block, look at https://www.daz3d.com/halloween-house.
This discussion had me looking at holiday products I hadn't downloaded from DIM onto my newest computer yet and I just looked at this one. It is a weird mixture of Victorian and plaster and wood and Southern. Almost as if someone threw a bunch of different architechtural styles together without a clue to their eras.
And of course there is https://www.daz3d.com/victorian-haunted-house which needs https://www.daz3d.com/victorian-house.
of course I have all of those
I did say I collect derelict houses, damn I live in one
Me too. Built in the late 1800s in San Rafael, in Marin County CA for the Portugese Consulate to San Francisco. It still had the original carriage block so you could step out of your carriage at the front of the house. Bought by the then current owner in the 1950, who stripped it of all the gingerbread and rented it out. My bedroom had a cracked window with a hole in it. A 1930s era heater you had to get out of a warm bed to turn on, and the bathroom was a claw foot tub, toilet with a tank elevated about 5 - 6 feet from the floor with a chain, a small sink and wood floor. And no heat. Marin is very cold in the summer with fog at times. After my mom moved out, she had left some things of mine and hers there in the carriage/garage and the lawyers who had bought the house were remodling it. Then someone firebombed it. My things were singed a bit.
It is one of the reasons I love studying how houses grow and change over the decades.
mine not that old, just derelict
well it is probably 10 years older than me
@davesso,
While not the house in your post, in 2020, Ralf1958 posted the link to his free Daz Studio model of the classic Bates House (Bates Motel) from the movie Psycho. The link is in his post in the thread *FREE* Halloween - Bates House from the movies Psycho and Bates Motel at https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/6102342/ .
thanks. i received an error going there. it might not be available any longer?
I still see the file. What error did you get?
just tried again and it worked. the file did not come up the first time.
@daveso - Glad to hear that you got the download to work.
@Leana - The llnk should take you to a OneDrive page as pictured below.
oooh grabbed this today with the SCARY-DEAL
@WendyLuvsCatz: I think this is an add-on to your new house: https://www.daz3d.com/fg-haunted-house-props
so you actually got scary-deal to work?
Thx, wishlisted
on that, yes, not on an Outlet Quick Grab which wasn't marked as such so I suspect there are exceptions
interesting ... perhaps it has to be on something not discounted? I have yet to get it to work, including on the Haunted House. EDIT: well, it did work as the only item in the cart, an already discounted at 50% and then came to 75%, although if I put a doorbuster in my cart, Featured artists are then at 80%, but the coupon lowers it to 75%., so it is better deal not to use the 50% off one item coupon. kind of..you still have to buy a doorbuster to get the 80% off
what a game it is here.
