my result of using others' models

Here's what I ended up posting on my channel after deleting a couple vids with models.

"If someone has an issue of me using other's models - which is rather common - please comment and I'll delete it all (as done). Seemed obvious to me I couldn't make all that stuff. All on whim and didn't really want to lean on other's work. But we feel the vibes, as always. DAZ models are purchased with license to use as one wishes. I do wonder if others who do same get deluged with negative, judgmental vibes for doing so."

I figured this would happen eventually. I'd like to know what others get when they post vids with others' models.

First, I don't see a link.  Second, don't take anything that posters on Youtube say personal.  I've noticed that people tend to make remarks about videos even when they don't know what they are talking about.  Third, yes, it is perfectly fine making videos with models and objects purchased through DAZ.  It is one of their selling points.  It is included in the EULA.

So, I like playing with animation.  Just starting and learning.  I wouldn't mind seeing what you have, but you need to provide the link.  I have not actually posted anything to Youtube so I can't help you out there.  I rarely take the time to view the comments videos I have watched have gotten.  After a years of watching Youtube and seeing how negative people can be, I would rather just not read the comments.

DAZ and Poser models are fine to use in games and video with stock textures, hair, clothing, and morphs. If you have desire only to create animations and not modify the models that is still a lot of fun and worthwhile.

There may not be a single place on the internet with dumber comments than Youtube. Please don't take anything said there seriously and enjoy making whatever you like using purchased products. I do not model either and all of my art is created with things that I buy. If anyone were to criticize me for that, I would kindly suggest that they feel free to make their art however they like and to respectfully shut the frickin' hell up about how I do mine.   :)

Remember, inorder to use in a game you mush purchase the game licences and they only apply to certain models by certain published artists unless its 2D artwork in the game

Just remember that to use any Daz models in a game you need a game license.  Sprite animations would be the exception as those would only be 2D representations.

Well that's only if they publish the game such that anyone else but themselves have access to the published results. And whether they use the content in a game, a video, or images they can't share the content used to make those things with anyone else, game dev license or not.

How much of the content of a (for arguments sake) Peter Jackson movie do people think he makes himself these days?

And as for comments on YouTube. Honestly, don't lose sleep over the trolls there.

'Corse sometimes it's a bit hard sorting the trolls from the socially challenged who are just expressing their views ineptly.

    Intent.

Edit: That's not meant to be a "short" answer, it's just that the answer is short :-)

So, if the troll is a "purist" that only uses models they create, did they also write all the code for the modelling program they used on a PC they made themselves after producing the microchips from silica they harvested from sand they ...

Fact is, there's a point that anything we do or create is building on the works of others. How we assemble that into a picture or animation is the "art".

Reminds me of when similar trolls ran me off DeviantArt nearly a decade ago. Thankfully DA has gotten better about it.

  • Om my god you guys, I love you all. My sentiments exactly, Especially about youtube. Too sensitive. I took everything down I was so pissed. We'll see what happens.

Youtube is a very weird place when it comes to feed back. There are utterly no content vids there, all rehash or simply body posing or rudeness getting Massive amounts of likes. Thanks for the support.

you need a thicker skin, check out the comments I get on my channel and videos if you want to see major  trolls cheeky

There's a reason the adage is 'never read the comments.'

(Although every once in a while, the comments are why you should check something out. ;)

Good comments or bad, really doesn't matter :)

You get enough people looking at your vids whether it's because they like them or hate them, you get money from youtube :D

I used to do fanfiction writing for around twenty years, until several years ago, when I switched over to 3D and original writing. You'd get a lot of comments when you write, i.e. on sites like fanfiction.net, most are "yay and hurray", but also some really nasty stuff, depending on genre.

What I've learned from that is, no matter what you do, some people will try to pull what you do into the mud, by attacking you rather than the story. Perhaps, because they need to make such comments to make themselves better or superior to you. I the end, I decided that I could care less about them. I took what constructive criticism (and also less constructive, but founded criticism) there was about the story, examined it and used it to improve my writing. So... "It sucks" I tend to ignore, but "It sucks because..." I check back to see if they have a point. And yes, that type of criticism is also hurting and unwelcome at times - because ego stroking comments are so much nicer. wink

In the end, what you have to work out for yourself is, are you doing this for the ego-stroking, or because you want to share your art with others? In case it's the latter, as someone further up the thread said, grow a thick skin.

    • Personal attacks will happen. Develope coping strategies for that (outside of the 'delete comment/report comment). Rule of thumb: People who attack you as artist rather than your artwork are usually the kind who either want to vent their own anger at someone, or get a kick out of imagening the others ail in pain. Meaning that their comments are not about you, but telling an awful lot about themselves.
    • Founded or unfounded criticism of your work - it hurts when not everyone loves your baby as much as you do, but take the time to examine criticism aimed at the work. If it's unfounded ignore it (i.e. too broad, or nonsical, like "just taking something someone else created" - sorry, but a phtographer is also just posing pre-made materials, and I doubt he created the humans in the image by his own hand... Rendering isn't much different, just that the models are virtual rather than real.). If it's founded, see how it can help you improve your artwork.

I hope you'll be able to post your videos again, and don't let the idiots run you off youtube again. yes

I know that any video I post would attract the worst kind of offensive, negative comments because I only put together clips where I was trying something out.  Occasionally I put such clips together with sub-titles to create a poor sort of tutorial.  The idea is only to share results of experiments with Forum members.  I always, always, always disable the comments function and hope that it really annoys the haters.
