Purchasing membership with gift card

I'd posted about this in the Plus member forums but I don't have access to them now, since my membership has lapsed. 

I purchased a gift card to pay for a yearly membership since my monthly was almost up. When I got to checkout, I didn't see the gift card as an option. I checked all over the site and I don't see anywhere where it says gift cards can't be used to purchase memberships, and it specifically says in the premier FAQ that you can use gift cards to pay, as does the AI chat bot when asked. (attached screenshots) Am I missing something? Someone in the plus chat said it's not an option anymore. I can't read the second reply I got since my membership lapsed.

I'd hope that if it was no longer an option, it would be very clear, so things like this didn't happen. There's nothing on the gift card page, or on the membership page that says you can't use a gift card. I'm frustrated because I really can't afford to pay for a membership twice right now, and just barely justified the splurge to buy it at all. (I am a full time caregiver for my mother in law who has dementia, so money is extremely tight.)

I put in a ticket, but my last ticket never received a reply after months, so I'm not holding my breath. Thoughts?
