Will DAZ store disappoint again at Halloween ?

If there is something this store is lacking is quality horror/creepy assets.

Can we have like Stonemason and or Polish environment for halloween ?

What type of environment is it you would like?

I have wanted DAZ lookalikes of the Universal monsters for quite sometime. They're've been knockoffs in commercials, other shows, and print for so many decades I thought them showing up the the DAZ 3D store at sometime was a given but I'm wrong so far.

I think there were/are some from the more recent Universal versions, but they might have the short-lived Editorial License.

Anything creepy/haunted....like Asylum, haunted house, abandoned building, etc.

A quality product, not something with low quality textures or badly designed.  The 2 artists I named above could pull this off, they create good procuts.

  • Last year I picked up https://www.daz3d.com/spooky-hollow-bundle during a very sweet Halloween promo, $40 of scary products with a New Release.

Not Universal monsters but themed around The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Xivon has some good stuff, too - I like some of their work, anyway. https://www.daz3d.com/xi-zombie-apocalypse-london looks interesting. There are plenty of abandoned buildings in the store. Depends again what you want. As for Universal monsters, there are Frankensteins, brides, vampires and more. I can't imagine one would come up totally empty-handed; but that's me, not other people.

The Outlet Store is currently showing https://www.daz3d.com/your-worst-nightmare-bundle. It has a creepy basement. I also see https://www.daz3d.com/ancient-egyptian-creature-bundle. That features a G8 mummy and tomb scene. I will probably buy that before it vanishes from OS.

Which reminds me - I'm going to pick up Dracula's castle at that other store.

One of the pose sets for the G8 mummy is also in the Outlet selection for $3.99/$1.59: https://www.daz3d.com/risen-mummy-poses-for-genesis-8-male-and-mummy-hd

Yes, I like Xivon's products. However, I was told that their https://www.daz3d.com/xi-hell-portal I bought last year is very high poly, so I never downloaded it. Wasn't too bummed since it was a <$5 buy-in for that $40 worth of freebies I mentioned above.

If there were going to be Halloween items, they'd have been better off being sold at the beginning of the month so that people would have time to use them in time for Halloween, so what we'll probably see is a few store-dump sales of existing halloween-ish type items.  As it is, the Universal Monsters' appearances all so all heavily restricted these days, especially since the families of Lugosi and Karloff now get a cut of the proceeds, that I doubt the sales would be worth DAZ paying the price for a license when there are already half dozen different versions of most of the classic characters and sets in the store that come as close as one can without crossing the line, often multiple times in a single genereation, especially when anything licensed would be as heavily restricted in terms of usage rights like the Star Wars stuff is.  As it is, I suspect that Tempesta3D's Frankie and the Bride for G9, and RawArt's Victorian Monster are about as close as we'll see in Genesis 9.

    Good find!

Oh, download the hell portal! It's a fun setting. It loads into DS in a few seconds. My modest machine with i5 12600k processor and 3060 12GB card also renders it in iray in seconds - Not 100%, but enough to for it to look great. I knew it would be ok when the iray preview rendered with very little delay. I say, give it a go! yes

I've found plenty of environments in the DAZ store that I thought were creepy, but perhaps it's all subjective.

The Management's Barlow House Ravenskull was a great series of dark old house environments, topped only by their more recent Old Victorian House bundle.

Then of course there was the Albert Mansion, Jack Tomalin's long running West Park series (now updated for Iray), Sloshwerks' Creepy Old Attic, Kindred Arts' Harwood House, and Collective 3D's Long Island Mansion (Amityville), to name but a few.

And this is before one looks at all the products at other stores.  Honestly, I think the horror market is disproportionately well-served in the DAZ/Poser world, especially when it comes to things like historically accurate period sets, clothing, and hair... Not that I'm complaining mind you, as one can never have too many morgues or mad scientest labs. :)

  • I always thought DzFire's Foresaken Village was an excellent looking collection for horror settings. I see it's now a Daz+ item for $3.42. https://www.daz3d.com/forsaken-village-and-construction-set

E-Arkham, a favorite PA of mine, has a store chock-full of horror/creepy elements. Two of my favorites:

Okay! Okay! I will download the portal - once I replace my computer. Which means it will be used to get ahead for next Halloween, since that's not happening until early November.

laugh I found the portal easy to work with in DS and it rendered quickly enough to make me happy.

  • No idea whether this freebie remains available (it was first uploaded way back in 2020), but if so, then this discussion may be of interest:

    It is still downloadable.

  • For assorted creatures, there is also https://www.daz3d.com/monster-mashup-for-genesis-9-starter-bundle and https://www.daz3d.com/monster-mashup-for-genesis-9-pro-bundle. I've got the starter wishlisted (& they both go on sale fairly often). Starter has zombie, goblin, alien, hag (witch), & wizard G9 characters; pro bundle adds pupil utilities, hag & zombie outfits, and zombie hair. Zombie, alien, & goblin are available solo, while hag & wizard are sold together.
