CMS Path in IM - how to change

AndySAndyS Posts: 1,447

Hi,

I have to install DAZ on my new PC.
Now I want to set the correct paths.
Why isn't it possible to set an own new cms-path? IM ever changes it back to "C:/Users/andre/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/cms"

In the field "Content Database Base" I select my own new path "E:/Daten/DAZ 3D7cms". Then I press "Accept".
After returning to the advanced settings the entry again is "C:/Users/andre/AppData/Roaming/DAZ 3D/cms".

Why ??

Regards

Andrew

Try setting it in DS - Edit>Preferences>CMS Settings.

    Hi Richard,

    nice suggestion.
But I'm not at this step jet (installing DS).

If DS is installed with the "wrong" cms-paths, it already established all database information. So after changing the paths at this late state, I have to manually move all cms files from %appdata% to the wanted location.

    One important remark:

    For security reasons:
All user data are not allowed to be stored on the system drive. Never!
And the cms database is User data.
I know, Microsoft does the same fault.sad ( ->Standard install path for user programs)

So please don't use %appdata% as the primary/default location.

    Thank you

    Andrew.

    I found a solution:

First I copied the database files from my old PC to the data HDD location of my new PC.
In the cmscfg.json I edited the "DatabaseClusterPath" directing it to the %appdata% location.

In the %appdata% location I redirected it to the cms location on my data HDD.

    This way it worked.

But it is a bad workaround.

    Regards

At one time DIM seemed to be less relaible for changing the (shared) ContentCluster path, that was why I suggested trying DS.
