What's the difference between a point light and a linear point light?

Hi! Could you tell me what is the difference between a point light and a linear point light, please? When I load them, I have the impression that they look like the same, but I guess there should be a difference...

Thank you in advance!

linear one has more options but I thought that was for 3Delight because I cannot see any difference in iray

someone correct me if I am wrong as would like more options

A standard pointlight obeys physics - intensity drops as the square of distance (so if one object is twice as far from the light as another it  will get one quarter of the light, three times as  far it will get one ninth). A linear pointlight in 3Delight defaults to linear falloff (twice as far, half the light, three times as far, one third the light and so on).

As WendyLuvsCatz says, in Iray all local lights have inverse square fall off so there is no difference between them.
