The Dark Forest | Daz 3D

The Dark Forest - I am having trouble getting it to look right.

When I load the Iray version, Night Scene, I noticed Fireflies were turned off.  Anyway, the render looked so wrong.  I downloaded and installed it again.  This time, I rendered in both 3Delight, which I know nothing about, and Iray.

Anyway, I have attached my renders.  The left is 3Delight and the right is Iray.  The light is about to come on, but nothing like the promos.  The lights were in the 3Delight folder, which I had thrown away.  I re-downloaded to see if maybe there was an update.  That is how I know about the lights.

 March 2024 - DAZ 3D New User Challenge - Posing and Puppeteer/PowerPose - Page 2 - Daz 3D Forums

AgitatedRiot rendered in that post and his renders are brilliant.  I don't know if these are Iray or 3Delight.

I attached mine.  The left is 3Delight and the right is Iray.  I used the nighttime lights in both renders.   I want my Iray render to look like the promo pics.

Please help :)  Thank you so much!!

I don't have it but it could be that the iray needs to have the lights adjusted from the way NVIDIA changes the way things glow a couple of years ago.

That is definitely a thought!  Thank you.  I just don't know what to do.

I have this product, and after one clicking "The Dark Forest Night Scene" for Iray, even in the preview it renders properly. The fireflies are switched off by default, and I think it's because their colors clash with the Night settings (color-wise they look more appropriate for the Dusk scene), but they're added to the scene so you can switch them on if you really want to.
Which means it's probably something to do with your setup. My first guess is that you're missing Environment Options and possibly also Tonemapper Options.
Here are the steps I'd follow if I were you:

    • Make sure you're in texture shaded preview mode (not in Iray) and close Daz.
    • Remove this installation.
    • Install again. Do not throw anything away. Just leave it as is.
    • Open the new scene, nothing else added or changed. It should be, by default, in texture shaded mode. If it isn't, then change it to texture shaded and load a new scene (this step is probably not necessary, but I'm making sure you start a scene without any Environment or Tonemapper settings in case there's something in your setup that clashes).
    • Click on "The Dark Forest Night Scene" for Iray. Wait for it to load. Do not delete or remove anything, just do Iray preview (probably faster than clicking "render") and see if you're getting the results you should.

If your computer isn't very powerful, you'll likely get very grainy results, but if you wait a moment, you should be able to see if you're getting more or less the view you should. Rendering it, though, on not powerufl computer, will take ages and will still result in a lot of grain. If I recall correctly, on my RTX 2060 it took 5 hours to render and it still had a lot of grain. In comparison, now (RTX 4060Ti) I was able to render it in 8 minutes.

Attached is the screenshot "out of the box" Iray preview (please note that I'm using RTX 4060Ti now, so my preview isn't particularly grainy; yours might be, depending on what computer you have) with everything that is in the scene when I load it included (compare the list of loaded items to see if you have everything on the list) and the test render.

If it works, then it was something you deleted, either from the folders or during the scene setup.

If this doesn't work, you might need to share your exact steps, screenshots of your Daz studio setup and probably enviroment panel in the render settings as well.

Several things going on in real life and not able to be at my computer!

Anyway, joanna, your help was so appreciated.  I did everything just as you instructed.

Well, her screen looks so updated.

I didn't mention that I was using Daz Studio Version 4.15, I believe.  I was scared to update to a new version.  Well, I did.

Still have a slow computer, but everything in The Darl Forest works as it should!!  It's grainy because I must render overnight :)

    Again, joanna, thank you!!
