My promo page for today says there's 2 coupons that expire in 4:53:22 and the codes are WEEKEND-SALE & MID-SUNDAY; they don't work.  Reading this forum, it seems these MAY OR MAY NOT be expired and MAY or MAY NOT HAVE BEEN RESTARTED since there were some issues with them when started earlier (to expire at noon.)  I opened the page in Safari on my iPhone (I was previously on a PC with Edge browser) to see if it was just old page data, but the same sale/Coupons still shows - and I have NOT LOADED a DAZ page in Safari on my phone in some time, meaning this shouldn't be a cached page on my phone.

Are the coupons actually active again until 6pm daz time, or not? If they are supposed to be active again, they are not working for me.

Same thing shows for me, and neither code works, so...

The current coupons are the following (message at the bottom of the previous pages):

Yes, that seems to be the code for the bundles:

    PRO-BUNDLE one Pro bundle for $19.99, $9.99 for Daz+/Premier. https://www.daz3d.com/black-pro-bundle
    GREATEST-GRABS extra 50% off 20 legacy items, min $1.99  https://www.daz3d.com/old-but-awesome

if I actually typed that correctly (working from a screenshot)

time-limited coupon deals are frustrating as usual with this business of old deals persisting even on devices/browsers that haven't loaded daz pages recently and can't have cached copies of a recent sale page.   It makes me wonder if instead of keeping the same PAGE FILE NAME and PROMO SLIDER  FILE NAME for a whole weekend is the problem. What about differing/sequentially named PAGES & SLIDERS, so that every time a new coupon/deal is started, the SLIDER is deleted and replaced with a new one with new name, linking to the new version of the day's sales page with a different name with the new coupon/deal that's currently active, and the prior page gets deleted so newly checking in people won't ever even be able to get the expired page since it was deleted.  A new page with a different name wouldn't continue to  load and display old promos, the way the daily promo pages do now over and over again driving us all crazy.

Thank you, Richard. A good chunk of whatever $$$ Daz makes today is entirely the result of your efforts.

    6am-12pm

    • Use code WEEKEND-SALE to get an extra 30% off up to 3 new releases wish-listed prior to 11/30

    • Use MID-SUNDAY to get an extra 50% off up to 5 new items that are wish-listed prior to today

    • Offer excludes new,  Memberships and gift cards and Daz+

    • Useable 1x per customer

    • Min price after discount: $2.99

I really appreciate your help, though it should not have been needed.  I am aware that a lot of users of this site are unaware or barely aware that the forums exist, and they never venture in here so DAZ have almost certainly missed out on a substantial sum of money that would have been spent if things worked properly.  The CDN caching issue can be overcome if you know how, and if DAZ don't know how they really ought to learn, for the sake of their income.

I love the great sales that DAZ have though I'd love them more if they worked better.  As a result of this sale I now have no Stonemason sets in my wishlist because they are now installed in my content folder.  smiley

I wanted to give feedback about the ongoing sales from a more technical stand point.

Before anything else, let me say that I'm very pleased with my haul of discounted Daz3D items. The Wish List is by far the most straightforward and snafu-free point of sale feature on the Daz website that I've come to rely on. Good results so far! But looking over the challenges people have reported here -- particularly the latency in webpage updates across global time zones -- it sounds to me that Daz is  grappling with content delivery (CDN) caching issues.

I refer you to this excellent tech deepdive into the topic.  To quote ...

Edge server propagation delays compound these problems. Your CDN provider needs time to distribute cache invalidation commands across their global network, creating windows where different locations serve different content versions.

Browser caching conflicts add another layer of complexity. Even when you successfully purge CDN cache, users' browsers may still display cached versions based on their local storage policies.

Doesn't that sound like the problems people are reporting? Particularly so when a bug is found and Daz has to post website updates (HTML, Javascript and all) that end users urgently need to load into their browsers.

The article gives a number of tips to mitigate CDN caching issues, many of them sensible ones. It's been a while since I've worked with web applications, but it wouldn't hurt for the Daz team to keep all of these technical strategies in mind going forward.

    Cheers!

Caching is, at least sometimes, an issue - that is why another browser, or a private/anonymous  window, or adding ?gibberish to the URL may shake it loose - and daz is aware of that in general terms, whether they are aware of and can apply those workarounds I don't know.

Thank you guys, for all the hard work and time to make things go smoother. I found no problem with the sales working as long as I checked out before 5 my time. But I did see cached pages too, and a time or two I did have to hunt down a new code. Hunting down the new code can be frustrating. Plus not everyone is familiar with the time-zones etc. Sometimes things do break. So I am thinking, hang on, . . . waves thinking smoke away from ears . . . what  if a mod like you, created a thread called Active Sale Links, or TODAYS SALES CODES, or whatever, and pinned it to the top of the commons, have the web gurus add that Link as a permalink line on the sales header and the sales offer page. The link would never change but the content on the thread could. The thread would be used just for you mods to post the codes not the web devs. The first post could be a  'Hi there post,  . . . if we have some special codes here they are. A simple single post that could be edited on a per need basis. That could be a post or a simple link to wherever the correct code has been posted. depending on what's up. Imagine, no comments to wade thru, no opinions to read, like this opinion lol, just a quick dirty fix for seen and unseen issues. Issues would still have to be reported here. You post on a per need basis but keep the link planted on the promo page in case because you never know when you really need it. Just a thought.

I ddi wonder about a dedicated thread, but initially we didn't have the details for today's offers so it would still have been iffy, which might be even moe confusing. We may hope that they will be able to avoid such issues (which weren't simply caching this time round, as dfar as I know) with future promotions.

    18 mins past changeover:

Outlet is empty except for the perma-items

    QG empty entirely

    Better Than Daz+ item is 5x $1.99

The outlet now lists only ten products, is that intentional or a bug?

  • y3kmany3kman Posts: 825

It took more than 20 minutes after store turnover to get the new items for the store. I hate this CDN caching issues with stale content.

  • Fire AngelFire Angel Posts: 273

Oh, and the Quick-Grab category cvontains nothing at all now, I am sure that isn't intentional!

Not sure what that means. I see the item and it's at the correct price for me.

I am presently showing 498 products. Am inquiring about Quick Grab.

  • The Advent Calendar item that's supposed to be free (The Core Set) is currently showing as $4.48 in my cart. The other item, the "Easygoing Poses for Genesis 9", displays at the correct $2.99 price.

You have to pick one of them. Either one for free or the other for $2.99. Remove the one for $2.99 and the other should be free in your cart.

Ah. That really ought to be somewhere on the page.

Outlet showing 1327 now... based on the very unscientific and narrow data point of my WL, the offerings seem to be the same as they were yesterday. Not sure if that's intentional or representative.

ETA: NM, I just thought of a few that had been there but aren't now.

Agreed. Either they're operating on "well it works the same as last year so you should just know" -- or there's some text missing.

Are there conditions for the calendar this year (i.e. must have bought something in the past X days for the free option, paid option does not stack with other offers, etc)? Because if so, they're not there.

Those conditions are for the punches right?

Some text is missing: I'd love to know if the orange banner is only valid today or when it is going to expire...

I'm seeing different items in the advent calendar:

The Healer Poses for Genesis 8.1 Female and Prixi For Genesis 8 Female

Are there different/individual versions of the calendar?

    Quick Grabs are here.

Yes, it's based on your wishlist, at least if you have enough eligible Daz Originals items in it. Otherwise, the system will chose among all eligible Daz Originals.

They are also a price threshold and we believe it's higher for the 2.99 items than for the free one, but you can still one day have a free item with a higher price than the paid item.

Yes, I seem to recall it was like this last year as well.

I have 3 punches and am a Daz+ member but the Marius character is not showing free in the cart.
