Stockings clipping through shoes - ideas how to fix?
Hi, I've run into this problem before but usually it was fixed either with collision settings, or just shrinking the stockings as much as possible and letting the smoothing do its job.
However, now I have a combo I really like but neither method works. I'm out of ideas and admittedly my knowledge on dealing with physics/geometry is still pretty modest, so any other suggestions I can try? Thanks!

Several solutions come to mind:
1. Fix in post: Render twice, once normally, the second time with hidden stockings The second time a spot render is enough for the affected area). Combine both in post processing
2. Use geometry editor to create a new surface. Assign the affected parts of the stockings to the new surface. Hide the new surface in the shader settings by modifying opacity settings.
3. Mesh grabber (which is a separate add-on) and modify the geometry of the stockings in the affected areas.
4. Generate a morph in an external application.
I don't know if it'll work in your case, but you can try to hide the toes bones on the stocking themselves. If you're lucky, every part of the geometry controller by the toes bones is hidden by the shoes but I'm not sure it'll be enough.
Another solution, one that possible inside Daz Studio, you can use a Push Modifier with a weight map on the stockings, set the value of the Push Modifier to -1 and paint the weight map around the part that are pocking through the shoes.
An old example, in the first screenshot, the Push Modifier value is set to 0, to allow seeing where I painted the weight map:
And in the second one, I set the value to -1 and the stockings don't pokethrough anymore:
One element to keep in mind: the push modifier and the smoothing modifier will likely fight with each other, so you may have to paint a couple of times over the same spot.
More explanation on this message with a video showing how to use push modifier (not for shoes, but the principle is the same): https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/comment/9263111/#Comment_9263111
Sorry for the late reply and thanks a lot for both replies - I went with the geometry editor in this case and it worked fine, but I am pretty sure I will revisit this thread in the future :)
