All Lights

Is there a reason why my distant light is not moving when I rotate my distant light?  I rotate it to the left of my image and the render shows it on the right side of the image. It's the same with the spotlights as well.

Distant Lights have diection but not location (they always shine from "outside" the scene). You are rotating the light node but the render/Iray Preview/Filament Drawstyle is not reflecting that? Are the lights set to point at something?

  • The lights point to the center of the render.

If you rotate them  do their values in the Parameters pane update? Does the viewport a vatar (the block of three cones) update it's orientation?

  • Rotating the light(s) does not rotate the background light.

Distant lights? Or are you talking about the HDRI environment? Some screenshots of what you are selecting might help.

  • What environment mode are you in under render settings?

If it's Dome only, or Sun-sky only, no lights but emissive surfaces will add to the render.

If that's the case, switch to Dome and Scene and it should fix your problem.

  • It is always on dome and scene, and it still did nothing to fix the problem.

  • I figured something out, removing the image from Enviroment Map worked. My light are placed where I wanted them placed.
