Omnihair beyond computer's capabilities?

I just purchased https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-strand-based-beach-style-long-hair-for-genesis-9 and can't get the hair to render any colors.

No matter what color preset I apply, which indeed changes in the surface setting, the rendered hair is always white/gray.

I am running Studio 4.22.0.1 Pro 64bit on quite an old laptop and am stuck using cpu rendering (Intel HD Graphics 4000).

I have made sure the Omnihair shader is installed through default content and other strand-based hair renders colors just fine.

Any insights into this issue would be most appreciated.

You mean Default Resources? Are you sure you are selecting the hair and not, for example, a skullcap? Have you made sure the ahir is set to use 0 segments if using the new shader?

Thank you for the reply, Richard.

Yes, you are correct, I did mean Default Resources.

I have tried by selecting the main "Beach Style Long Hair" in the scene (which seems like it could be a group, and hidden by default) which brings up a surface named "Cap" in surfaces tab that is different from the subcomponent "Beach Style Long Cap" surface, also named "Cap". I have also applied the material presets to the subcomponent "Beach Style Long Hair Strands" which shows the 4 hair surfaces. Both of these subcomponents change surface settings when a preset is applied, but all render as colorless.

As far as setting the segemts to 0, I had not come across any reference to segments, unless that is what tessalations sides are, and I have made sure they are at 0.

Sorry, I misread and replied with nonsense.

Omni hair shader was introduced in 4.22.0.16 so in 4.22.0.1 it would not be supported

Thanks, I was sure 4.22.x.x was OK but wasn't sure if there was a limit on the build number.

    Thank you Leana!

I remember being hesitant to update at some point due to issues people were reporting, and for some reason I can't seem to find the beta I had installed shortly after.

I just installed the 4.24 beta and the hair works fine in that, so maybe I can safely update my main install.

I appreciate the help and thanks again.
