Moving characters very slow with DForce (hair, clothes etc)

Hi. I'm having a serious problem with Genesis 9 with some DForce items like hair, clothing, and anatomy (breasts with physics and collision for females). I have a female Genesis 9 character with DForce hair and DForce clothing with breast anatomy that has collision (Breastcular G9). The problem is that these items not only slow down the scene with serious FPS drops, but also make it extremely difficult to move and change the character's limbs positions without my Daz becoming extremely slow. If I try to move an arm, for example, it takes seconds to complete which makes it take much longer to complete a scene that I was building. What I've tried:

Hiding DForce items (didn't work, it's still slow);

Trying to reduce the Interactive Update and other items with DForce (also didn't work, the scene and the character are still slow);

Trying to reduce the number of collisions (failed miserably, as it still slows down).

I'd like to know if there's a way to change my character's poses and move her around without experiencing all this lag. My PC usually handles Genesis 9 characters well with DForce, but this one in particular becomes much more difficult and unproductive.

My specs:

Intel Xeon E5-2680 V4;
RTX 3060 12GB;
64GB DDR4 RAM.

    That may depend on the products you're using in most of such cases... better name the products.

    Some clothing / hairs with improper settings can make posing laggy. But if you can find Smoothing Modifier on them, you can always try turning off Interactive Update and/or Enable Smoothing before posing. Then turn on Enable Smoothing before rendering.

    Geo-grafts usually don't significally slow down the process of posing ~~

    Besides, joint rotations that have more sub-components can bring slower movement than the ones that have less sub-components. For instance, Thigh > Side-Side has slower movement than Upper Arm > Bend... so the performance when posing them better not be generalized.

    Oops, sorry, I forgot to mention the assets I used on my G9F character. I used the following products here:

    HID Carolina for Genesis 9 (I used the morphs, brows, eyelashes, makeups and skin texture);
    HID Sonia for Genesis 9 (face and body morphs only);
    Young Teen Max HD for Genesis 9 (face morphs only);
    dForce FE Strand-Based Curly Long Hair for Genesis 9;
    dForce Auvina Outfit for Genesis 9 Feminine;
    Arah3D Pearl Earrings Vol.02;
    Golden Palace Genitals for Genesis 9 (can't link here because it's a NSFW product);
    Breastacular For Genesis 9 (can't link here because it's a NSFW product).

    These were the products I used as far as I remember. I think I also used some tattoo LIE, but I don't know if that interferes with the slowness.

    I'm at work right now, away from my home render PC. As soon as I get back at night, I'll share with you a screenshot of the parameters I used in the DForce products. Maybe I'm configuring something wrong.

    Well, I loaded the hair, outfit and two geo-grafts (I don't have Pearl Earrings but they should be just Smart Props that won't influent performance when posing...). I have a pretty robust PC but I could see a bit laggy when posing... especially when rotating the most complex joint, thigh side-side.

    I checked the items and found Preview PR Hair turned On on the hair node dForce Strand-Based FE Curly Long Hair. If you turn it Off, the performance will be improved.

    Besides, have you turned Limits Off on all joint rotations ? If you have, turn Limits On 'cause that also influcent the performance of posing especially when you drad the rotation sliders.

    Hi, sorry for taking too long to answer you. Apparently I figured out the problem, and it might be easier than I thought: too many DForce assets running at the same time. I deleted them all, and performance returned to normal, with the only downside being having to put each one after posing my female character. Yes, I made sure "Turn Limits Off" was disabled. I rarely turn this option on when working with my characters.

  • Another thing that slows things down a lot is to have 'Enable Smoothing' set to 'on' during posing. Set that to off and things usually speed up a fair bit, especially if smoothing iterations is quite high.

    Regards,

    Richard

    This option was already turned off on my character's clothes and hair, and it was still very slow. What solved it for me was deleting everything, leaving my character practically naked without any assets, and then the scene became lighter and easier to pose.

    buy 'wearables manager' by 'matew' to transfer wearables with a couple of clicks when you want to pose - other than that crank everything down to base res and pose in texture or cartoon shaded - otherwise its just something that arises commonly in Daz even with high end hardware...

    Wearables Manager | Daz 3D - currently on sale, I can't work without it these days!

    Wow, I've been looking for a script like this for months. Thanks for the suggestion! A tool like this will save me a ton of time and prevent laggy scenes.
