How do you save a figure with parts hidden?

Hi All.

i have a building that a walls that I have four differant styles for it.

what i would like to do is make a pose file ( for want of a better word) that will show one of the styles and hide the others and then another pose  that will hide that one and show one of the others.

can this be done?

Scene subset should do it. {all files in the scene should have been already saved first so they can be referenced rather than written into the subset data}

That feels like an odd way to save hide unhide a boned part? Would it a whole new scene again for each part I want to hide/unhide
