Stuck between overpriced/unsupported RTX 4090 vs 5090
in The Commons
I’m trying to decide between getting an RTX 4090 at the current high price, or going for the RTX 5090 and working on DAZ Studio alpha/beta builds.
I usually create complex scenes and rely heavily on dForce, so my question is:
-
Can I build my scenes in DAZ Studio 4.24, then export/open them in the DAZ Studio alpha/beta if I go with the 5090?
-
Will the scene stay exactly the same, or could some parts break/change when moving it to the alpha/beta version?

Yes. And, indeed, scenes can be saved in DS6 Alpha and loaded in DS4.24.
Some things will currently break.
For a simple example, Ultrascenery 2 and XT are reliant on plug-ins because they generate the final geometry at runtime. No plug-in, no geerated geometry.
(Ultrascenery 1 is however not affected, as that just populates the scene and the plug-in is not needed after that).
In general, yes ~~
That'll depend on the data saved in the Scene files by using DS 4.24 ~~ for instance:
1) you may lose some data in DS 2025 Alpha, e.g. plugins dependent data ~~ because all non Daz official plugins don't work in DS 2025 by now ~~;
2) some bugs in latest DS 2025 can result in a failure of opening Scene files saved in DS 4.24, e.g. the figures with node levels > 20+, ~~ You have to wait for the fix from Daz, etc. etc.
There are also some RTX 3090 GPUs available. I just bought a whole used system with one in it:
