Im rendering a cover scene in daz and i want it without backtround so i can place it over another picture and both pix will show? I seached render settings and cannot find one that gives me a clear shot aidh no background?
If you just add a character (or whatever else), and in render settings have 'draw dome' to Off, and no background, you will get a PNG with alpha channel.
following this routine above gave me no b'ground before, but now when i try it, i still get an opaque white background with no showthr...what shall I do? I need s .jpg with no background. is that the problem?
i tried again, asking for a png render, but again it didn't make the backgroound invisible, remaining all white. do i need to use a dome as background in order to get what i want?
Many basic image viewers display the alpha channel in full black or full white.
You need a program that supports transparent layers, such as GIMP or Photoshop.

You can have an HDRI dome, but visibility of render dome needs to be OFF in Environment Render Settings.
if you are just opening a PNG in windows file viewer or something, it's not going to show a transparent background, so need to use in an image editing software that supports layers and alpha channels. E.g., Gimp, Photoshop. Photopea has been around for a while and is pretty good as an alternative free web version of Photoshop. It's basically just a plagiarised version of Photoshop and can do most basic things photoshop and gimp can do and you dont need to install anything.
