Content Labeling Standards

Going through my content and would love to know if Daz should enforce more of a naming convention standard for content. I have vehicles and architecture in props folder as well as my vehicles and architecture folder. I have random outfits in they're own folder not categorized by the creator. Just wondering if anyone has felt the same way.

I used to have the very same feeling but now I'm already accustomed to them ~~ Even if there is sort of "naming convention" at least for top even 2nd level content folders, some vendors specify wrong folder names as well as file names from time to time. I've spend lots of time on cleasing these mess.

  • I stopped worrying about it when i figured out i can put user facing files where i want.

Link files(DJL) made it even easier.

If you don't like where a PA put something, move it, or use a link file to put it where you want.

Thanks. I'll need to get a little more savy about creating my own content management system. Would love to have my content library on another drive but wrapping my head around how that works with DIM and Smart Content pane. I think they conflict sometime, but I love the convenience of using DIM to redowload content if I ever upgrade. WOuld also love to have a external drive to share content between my PC and Mac too, if that's possible.

  • I actually started thinking about it from a different direction. Rather than focusing trying to wrangle a content schema on top of the existing content management system (i.e. it's a lot of work and gets out of sync too quickly once you have a large library), I'm wondering if it might be simpler to use an LLM toolchain to vectorize your content information and then just ask the LLM the questions you wanted to ask in plain language and get back a response that tells you what content you own, what content is availble from the store, etc.

For example, if I ask: "Do I have any Victorian steampunk vehicles in my collection?" can return content that was explicitly categorized as vehicles, but also can return content that was not but can be inferred as such from the product description and other metadata. I suppose you could also expand it to include the entire Daz catalog so it could also return information about products you don't own as well. :-) -- Hmmm, maybe for Version 2.

Anyway, I'm starting to tinker with a system to parse content and make it available for LLM search, with links to "apply" the content potentially. I think I have the bare bones of a project plan, so time to start experimenting. I'll post here if anything comes of it, for those that are interested. And if you're interested in being a tester (assuming it gets that far) let me know. :-)

Folder sturctures and supported software have changed numerous times over the last 20 yrs so there are bound to be a lot of stuff that are in unlikely places. I do occasionlly see things still going in places I don't quite understand though.
