Scene size issue

Hi, is there a way in Studio to check the file size prior to rendering. I seem to be sailing close to the wind for my 12GB GPU. Sometimes it takes 10 or more minutes just to compile the scene after I click to render, then find it is more than 12GB so the GPU fails and it wants to render using the CPU. This would take 12 to 20 hours to render as compared to 4 hours (at 100% convergence and about 4K image size). So I cancel the render and hide objects that are not seen in the camera view and try again. It would be quicker if I could just click a button to check the render memory size.

Unfortunately it isn't possible to know - there isn't a simple relationship between the working scene's size and the render data size because they are doing different things (the working scene has rigging information, morphs, simulation data etc. - all of which gets baked into a final set of shapes for Iray - and isn't evaluating the Iray material properties in a non-Iray mode).

Thank you Richard, very helpful as usual. It does take longer in the pre render work flow, but using a GPU monitor does give me what the memory size of the render is, refer previous image. So I just have to wait until Studio actually displays an image. If the GPU is working, it's going to be a GPU render. If the GPU load is zero, the memory size is more than 12GB. So kill the render and delete something. Try again LOL.
