Problems with Dicktator mod - Solved

Hi I am a newbie and this isn't a question but an attempt to help other incompetents like me. 
I bought Dicktator by Meipe and it didn't work. Left a white surface area on the lower torso of poor Michael9.
Meipe has published a so-called shellfix but that did not work. Lot's of unhappy people have same problem and you might as well. 
After hours wasted, I found a post by Harouchai on Renderotica, which solved the problem

  • First, use the 0-G9 Selector and the 1-Dicktator_Smart
  • Then use the 2-Dicktator_Material Copy
  • In the 01-Material Presets folder apply the nearest preset to your character skin
  • Then apply the Bump, Veins and Testical Wrinkles
  • All of this is done with the Genesis 9 figure selected
  • THEN, and I think this might be the crucial bit, Render 
  • The Veins etc are displacements and only show upon rendering

  • Unfortunately followed this and the pdf it came with in the documents folder, and it still does not fix the white area at the base of the shaft where it connects to the hip.  I tried selecting it and using the both shell fixes on the geoshell and nothing happened.  Anyone know how to fix it?

  • I can get G8 males to work, but G8.1 males have whiteness around the base. I have no idea how to fix this.

    That sounds as if it is hiding parts of a Geometry Shell based on surface names, which do not match between Genssi 8 and 8.1. If you select the shell (it will be a prop parented to the figure if you look in the Scene pane) and then go to the Parameters pane there should be a whole list of on/off switches for Surfaces and Groups - you want to turn off Torso, I would guess, though therr may be another for the back of the head.

     There's a separate script for G8.1M within the product folder... to copy materials from G8.1M to target Body surface on Dt. (ss1)

    If there was another geo-graft on your G8.1M, that would be another issue. You can fix it by following this, in the similar way: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/703076/

    Shell issues used to be a major pain for me, as I often have three or four different geograft/geoshell products on a figure at the same time, usually mixing products from multiple PAs, and I frequently found myself having to go back and reapply the various items in order to get everything working perfectly.  Fortunately. there's now a scirpt/utility sold at rotica by lightBlue called Universal Shell Fix that has thus far fixed every issue I've encounted automatically.  It's currently on sale for $6.80, but even at the regular 7.99 price tag it's well worth the price.

  • When using  2-Dicktator_Material, an error message appears indicating a problem opening the file.

  • What is the exact error? One thing that can give that kind of generic error is trying to apply any kind of preset without an object (ideally the right object) selected in the scene, but I can't tell if that is likely to be the case here.
