LIE Purple Rendering Issue

QuasarQuasar Posts: 679

I'm having an LIE purple rendering issue. I was applying LIE makeup to a character, checking how the combinations looked in a render and then used undo to try different combinations. It was working fine for a while, but now when I'm applying any of the makeup LIEs, the face renders purple even though it looks fine in the viewport. If I undo it, it renders fine again. I tried saving the scene and restarted Studio, but that didn't work. Is there something I can do to fix this?

Which version of Daz Studio? Where is the quality/performance slider in Edit>Prefernces>Interface set?

Can you share what model you are working on and if it uses geoshells, or special skin techniques?  Genesis? DAZ Store figure, or from elsewhere? The more info we have to easier it is to help.

Hi Richard. I'm using 4.24 and the slider is 1/3 from the left. Increasing it didn't work, though.

This is strange. It appears that it's only some LIEs that are doing this. They are the eye shadows from Utopian Makeup LIE and Face Gems for Genesis 8 and 8.1 Females. They were working fine and then suddenly they started making the face render purple.

Possibly an issue wth one of the image files, though they appear from the readme to be PNGs whicch is usually robust. Still, try applying them in turn as base colour maps to a prmitive and see if any of them fail to load.

I am using Freja 8 in this instance. There aren't any shells. I'm using Freja's base skin settings, and the product I mentioned in my last post. It's pretty odd since other LIEs are still working. I tried closing Studio, and loaded a base G8 and these particular LIEs are still making the face purple. I even tried uninstalling the files through DIM and had it install a fresh download. I don't know what could cause something like this since they had been working fine until they weren't.

As I was typing this, I decided to try reinstalling Studio, but still no luck. laugh

Yep, it looks like it's the maps. I put the maps on a sphere individually and it turned purple. When I removed the base color map, it stopped turning purple. Then I switched the face base color map on G8 back to the original and it stopped turning purple too, but the other maps it creates seem to be messing with the other surface settings also, like translucency and such. When I close Studio, all the maps in the temp folder it uses get deleted, so even new ones it creates have the problem. Is there anything else I can do?

The temp fles are meant to be deleted, that sn't an ssue. Try openng the texture files in an mage editor and resaving them - the image handling library Iray uses has changed and t may be that there s a quirk in these files that the old one could handle and not the new.

Thank you for trying to help. Unfortunately, resaving the original PNG maps in the textures folder didn't work. I was using the same version of DS I am now and was working in the same scene when they loaded and rendered fine. Then suddenly, after hitting undo and applying a different one in the set, it went purple. Now these eye makeups are always purple, even in the beta and the 2025 alpha. Is there some other LIE cache I can clear out or something? It seems like the new, layered images it creates are bad, but I don't understand why. At least most of the other LIE options are working for now.

The Temp folder maps are the only temporary/cached files I can recall.

Do you have the Translucency Channel active?
If so, you have to aply the same LIE set up there, as in your diffuse channel.
If you don't do that, all black LIE masks like tattoos or similar will apear purple-ish.
