Question about libraries and Smart Content (and stuff like that!)

I'm probably going to be asking this in the wrong group, and if I have, feel free to tell me off and move the thread!
I've recently stopped using Poser in favour of using Daz3d 4.9, and I have a quick question about organising libraries.
I own a reasonably modest amount of stuff purchased through Daz store, and no doubt will be purchasing more, but I know there's a lot of other stuff out there - freebies, other stores and similar. What I'm planning on doing is setting up another library folder for stuff that I get elsewhere. In principle, that's fine - I can just get to them through the Content panel without too much problem, and I can add the folder easy enough. But the thing is, does it appear in the Smart Content tab if it's Daz formatted rather than Poser formatted? Or am I restricted to having it as a "dumb" content library? Do my questions even make sense?!?!?!?
I'm hoping someone can help me out here, so that I can start downloading stuff and not worry about hunting through multiple locations for it!

There are good tutorials on how to add "Smart " to your current content over here.

Please read the entire thread because there is a good video tutorial a little ways in to the thread and some notes about the latest versions of Daz Studio that will be helpful as well.
Thank you :) I'll go hunting now :D
