Calum 9 has come! I would include a Conan pun, but I've never really seen any of the movies. So, there's that.
Instant buy. I'm a sucker for well built toons. Kind of a cross between The Brute and Scar.
Well, he will be once DAZ includes him in the Premier Characters page.
Discuss!

Ok, wow, I may have a new fav.
My first reaction was, "I wish DAZ made a The Girl 9, because that's who I've been wanting to return. But 'Scar 9' (AKA Callum 9)? He can stay."
I think I'm more interested in seeing how his skin looks compared to other ones I'm assuming are similar, at a glance, like Michael 9 or Neanderthal 9.
Nice character, nice body!
the orc add-on is perhaps the 1st time that I'm seriously annoyed that it's a premier exclusive.
Pedantry: Only one L in Calum. (Same goes for the topic title).
(Given that Daz have decided to give us Julius, Julia and Julian as G9 core characters, the names are really quite ambiguous enough as it is...)
Hoping Calum 9 hits the premiere bundle page
I wanted a pretty boy. There. I've said it. A male version of Willow or something.
Not so. My nephew is Callum with 2 L
Never mind I misunderstood. The Character is Calum, but I can understand someone mistyping Callum. He's in my cart either way. Just need a really Good Gift card sale or this cleans me out. I could live without the Destroyer outfit in the character bundle
I think he's a good buy. A large bulky frame that rivals Thomas 9 and the Premier Orc Form actually looks to be worth using (most Premier addon forms are easily attainable by just playing with morphs).
Suffice to say that I know that enough people have unusual or unique spellings of their names* that I'll only correct a spelling when I'm aware that it's wrong in that particular case.
I have one relative who is a Catherinne with a double N. I'm aware that other Matts are Mat with one T.
* That said, I certainly have opinions about parents setting up their children with unique snowflake names; I know people whose names aren't even that weird who have to repeatedly spell their names over the phone or keep having trouble because some important paperwork or database has ended up with the wrong spelling and therefore doesn't match.
Seriously, don't give your kid a gimmick name. No-one they meet will remember that it's got a load of Ks instead of Cs and Ys in place of Is, but it's going to cause them a heap of nuisance.
I have an incredibly common name, and I regularly have to clarify that it isn't a different incredibly common name.
it could be an entirely fantasy name given he is a barbarian
I have seen so many spellings of names, anything goes,
Olde English spelled words differently to now too for example
so go back centuries in other cultures, many without many literate people
it may even be pronounced differently
there also is an English singer called Calum Scott
It is not just snowflake names. Try inherited religious names. Ones you read and cringe. Even classic names can be terrible. Or ask any Mary, Gary, Larry, Sherry, Harry how much they love their name. Kids can be really mean. And put all those kids in one classroom where a teacher can't enunciate properly, you never know who is being called.
I've reported it to one of my Daz contacts as I'm pretty sure new figure releases are supposed to be included in the Premier promotion!
Callum sound like some bloke off the streat and not very barbaric to me :D
Years ago I met a lovely little boy whose name was Melchisédech, and all I could think about at the moment was how the poor kid would have to spell that all the time
You got me searching as Callum is the last name of a character in a story I read, having been originally MacCallum. That character is also a warrior who is also a statesman.
I found on Bump:
Calum is primarily a masculine name of Scottish and Gaelic origin. The name derives from the Latin word “Columba,” meaning “dove,” and references the influential Celtic missionary, St. Columba. The saint was credited with converting Scotland to Christianity, and Calum had already become very popular among Early Christian homes. Universally though, the term “dove” represents all that is pure and peaceful, allowing the name to resonate across many cultures and religions. Nowadays, the baby name is less prevalent than its variant, “Callum,” but there’s no doubt if baby’s involved, this virtuous moniker will hit the charts once again.
Myself and someone else reported it on the New Year, New Sales Thread: Report Issues Here 2 "Reporting Only" about seven hours ago.
I, sadly, think this is the first character character bundle not to be included with the Premier Bundle.
UPDATE: He's in the bundles finally.
The name has been successfully updated.
I like the discussion about the spelling of names, not the least because people regularly misspell both my first and last name, to the point that an aunt still gets my first name wrong every single time, and I've had to get flighttickets re-issued twice because the air company somehow fumbled up my last name (which is really weird, considering I booked them online, and the original booking receipts showed it correctly, so it seems they have to manually type over the information into a seperate system for flight information, or someone deliberately changed it).
As for Calum: not really my cup of tea, but it's good to see others appreciate the effort the designer put into him.
No great pieces of artwork.
Rendered with my own skin settings. All in all, good addition to the DAZ gene pool.
your shape looks more extreme than what I see in the official promos, is that just the skin settings?
It's a combo of lighting and my own skin settings. I don't know why the biceps are bulging so much. I might've had flexion triggered without realizing it.
It's not just the biceps; the abs look more pronounced as well.
Here's a quick one of the HD, because I wanted to see the tanned skin next to the no tan version. Both here, almost out of the box, with veins. (I added a nipple shape). He's very red, I would say intenionally so. Faber Inc's Pibon poses.
Sorry I turned him into a eunuch!
(Big version attached or click through)
Wow! He looks great, @sid! At least your version can be trusted with the harem. Somebody at Daz nailed it.
He's really excellent. Well done to everyone that worked on him.
Caius is now available. He's a big boy!
I just started a little rendering interrupted by a screening of Superman: the first is his oh so serious face and the second is an altered version included 50% Emrys Kohl Stylized, and some deaging via The Age from PFA
The movies are fun, but I would suggest reading Robert E. Howard's original books -- they will really set the tone, and then you can follow up with Bran Mac Morn and Solomon Kane.
