Skyrim-like Mage robes in DAZ?

Does anyone know if there are any skyrim-like mage robes in DAZ? I often like to make art of my skyrim characters. Also, the design is also just cool and will be stuck in my mind as ideal mage/wizard/magic person robes since they were an earlier introduction to this type of fantasy for me. I think the irregular hemline and toga-like wrap, and maybe the fact that it looks somewhat warm (it's not a bikini) are the main things I tend to look for.

I looked and looked and couldn't find any asymetrical tunics or tabbards

or diagonal fringed ponchos (are a few plain ones)

the rest you could easily kitbash from many other outfits

several of Luthbel's outfits very Skyrimish

off site Xurge is another (m4 and V4 need conversion)

short of using Nifskope to export actual Skyrim mesh which is awful to work with,

    or modeling something

the only suggestion I have is try draping primitive planes in an animated dforce sim and using helper objects to push them in place

a belt can be shrunk over the timeline to clich the waist

a fringed poncho but sadly square

esha's Mistral, Legend and Royal Fantasy are stylistically similar to the outfit on the left, even if none is an exact fit.

  • Those are some great options! Thank you. I think the skirt on the Mistral outfit especially has some great potentil for me to kitbash it into something similar. I think for the top I might try splitting off the top of dForce Conqueror Outfit for Genesis 9 | Daz 3D from the bottom and seeing if I could match up the textures and then hide the seam behind a belt. I don't think it'll look quite as close, but I think I also might be able to make the top from Ekialys' Ny for Genesis 8 Females | Daz 3D work. I'll play around and see what I can get to work. If I get it close to what I'm looking for, I'll try to share a test render here afterwards!

Okay, I played around a bit and while it's definitely not perfect, it's something. I played around a fair bit with getting different layers to work together but I had a hard time getting them all to mesh together. I ended up going with a dForce Wrap Dress for Genesis 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D and using a different texture. I used a geoshell underneath so that the top wasn't actually open, but there's still a wrap effect. The dress comes with a nice fit adjust morph that, if I set to max, makes it more baggy/lose when I dforce (and come to think of it, I could probably remove the limits and go even further with this). The cape thing at the top (which I might need to fix some of the texture on) is from dForce Empiric for Genesis 8 Males | Daz 3D . Then I added a belt with a pouch from dForce Medieval Barmaid for Genesis 8 Female(s) | Daz 3D . It's definitely not perfect or an exact match, but it matches the general style I think, it's got an asymmetrical hemline, a similar ish little cape like thing, and it's a lot easier to work with than what I was originally playing around with. I think there's still more I might want to do with some of the textures, but this is passable for now! Especially when it's just for me doing random fanart of my own characters.

Edit: Ugh, the forums seem to be doing that thing again where they don't let you upload images. I'll check back here later and see if I can fix it.

Couldn't get the image to work for longer than 5 minutes (grrr) so I broke down and just posted it to my gallery: Mage Robes Creation | Daz 3D

May I suggest you look for Shinteo on patron or deviantart. Shinteo does lots of game conversions and I'm sure Skyrim has featured. Most of Shinteo's conversions are offered for free after a month. Sorry I can't give a direct link to a particular one - the search features available to tablets on Patreon are poor. I'm pretty certain there used to be searchable tags and there are without doubt Skyrim models, but I can't find if there are mage outfits. Please look yourself with a less crippled computer. Regards, Richard.

These are great suggestions, thank you! WendyLuvsCatz, good eye on that wander outfit especially--that shape is spot on. richardandtracy, that's also a great place to look! I actually follow Shinteo already because they've often released models for some of my favorite fandoms. When last I searched I didn't find anything for Skyrim, but I suppose it's always possible I've missed something. And if I really want to get the authentic thing, I could always try to get in on their next round of commissions. I think they usually fill up quite fast though.

I'm pretty sure I once came across some Skyrim stuff in the past - but could be imagining it. But at the moment my internet gateway is a tablet and some search functionality seems somewhat crippled. Regards, Richard.

    I had to try didn't I

Ugh nooooooooo this took me long enough and very limited poses without distortion, Dforce just forget it devil

    Skyrim mesh exported using NifSkope

I separated the poncho with the geometry editor as too hard to weightpaint

whats left underneath is worrying, game meshes are very lowpoly, I had to hide all his body underneath

and just getting it the same pose and size as Genesis 9 was a job in itself

I would import it into Zbrush and Zremesh it is I really want it and Zproject the texture onto the new mesh but I am honestly not that keen blush

addded some poses to show how messed it gets

That's incredible you got it so far! I got frustrated just trying to get my hodge podge of items to play nice together with dforce, and that's with pre-made items that someone has already done the hardest part. It's really cool to see your experiment!
