Speed and quality of iRay PREVIEW
I don't mean this to be in any way snarky, just a sincere attempt to understand things. Why is my iRay PREVIEW (not the final render) so slow and "soft"? Compared to UE5 MetaHumans and reallusion's Character Creator, which are so clean and sharp, and which update almost instantly?
I am forced to use "Smooth Shaded" most of the time, especially when working on faces. I have an RTX 3070, which I realize is not exactly a beast, but its 8 GB VRAM is not even good enough for a preview? I really wish DAZ offered a screen preview that wasn't so graphically greedy. How are its competitors so successful?
Thanks!

If the preview Drawstyle seems poor and renders not then it is probably a difference between Render Settings and Draw Settings, though don't forget that the Drawstyle uses the base number of divisions (by default 1) instead of the relevel so anything with SubD will look blockier, and any dispalcement or HD morphs will lose most of their detail.
Unreal Engine is a game engine. Iray is a photo realistic render engine. They work in completely different ways.
The way each renders a screen preview, you would think it's just the opposite.
