Yes.... So... This is the time of year that people really should check their phone plans to ensure they don't have some type of contract renewal situation they may or may not have expected.

Ruh-roh. Hope you got it all sorted to your satisfaction.

complaint: We are predicted to get between 4-31" of snow this weekend.

I realize forecasting is imprecise, but... really? A twenty-seven inch range of possibility? Did they just pull those numbers out of the Bingo basket, or what??

It's a large margin, but it might depend on whether they're expecting you to be in the middle of on the edge of a precipitation zone.

At this time, the European Model has been the most reliable model for us in Denver. But we have hardly any weather balloons going up and observers and national weather service personnel left as compared to 2024. Unexpected weather events in the USA will be more prevelant now, like waking up to tornadoes without warning. Last week's snow was previously reported to be maybe a trace to an inch for Denver. Then 1 - 3 inches. Then trace to 2 inches. Then the morning of 4 - 5 inches. I had 4 inches with ice immediately on my van, layered with the snow, then an ice layer on that. Other areas of Denver had up to 7 inches. DIA the official recording spot I think got 2 inches, as it is out on the plains. But I will also say that the Mountain States are very hard to forecast for as there are too many things that can pull things this way and that.

That headache that was going around decided to sit in my head yesterday to such an extent that my computers were shut down by the mid-morning and I literally was researching Covid symptoms for 2026 and if I should bother my doctor. Also was sneezing, runny nose, achy joints, and stomach upset. Took meds and tried to sleep/rest it off. This morning, tired but mostly over whatever that was. Just a mild headache.

I hate having no energy or brain power for creating in Daz Studio.

Non-complaint:  Yay, it's here, it's here.  Today is another symphony day.  Symphony Buddy is picking me up late this afternoon for an hour trip to Erie, Pennsylvania to hear the Dvorak: Ninth Symphony (aka: From The New World)

We'll have dinner at a proper restaurant beforehand, and will probably be home before 11:00PM.  Neither of us is in great shape medically, but we'll find a way to make this happen.smiley  The last time we went to Erie for a symphony it was in the old Warner movie theater that has been completely refurbished.  I love those grand old theaters, like the FOX in Atlanta.yes

The Dvorak ninth, has great sentimental value to me.  When I started college in 1966, I was a country boy, but had an appreciation for classical music from the Sunday night radio programs from the Jamestown station.  We had one of those stereo music consoles in long low wooden cabinets but only had two classical records "Tchaikovsky: Serenade for Strings, and the Brahms  Schubert eighth:  aka, the "Unfinished",  But about six months after I went down to Florida to college, I started accumulating (with my own money) a simple HiFi component system.  I had a pair of Koss headphones, an AR turntable, with a Shure phono cartridge, a KnightKit (yes, I assembled it myself) amplifier, and a pair of AR-4x speakers.  Ooh, classy, but low end of their product spectrum.  My record collection was sparse, I had about every Simon & Garfunkle album, and my two classical albums from home, and my newest acquisition, the Dvorak: New World.heart  I'd put my headphones on, and listen to that record over and over while studying at my desk in the dorm.  I think I memorized every note.  I had that HiFi system for years, and accumulated a collection of about 100 record albums, until the HiFi gear was lost(stolenangry) by the movers who transported my household stuff from Florida to Washington, DC in '84no  I never did replace the AR equipment, sad I think they'd gone out of business by then or had become too expensive, or frittered away their reputation.frown  I did build up another HiFi system during the late '80s and early '90s, but that's gone now too, and I just have a CD player and a quality set of headphones (Sennheiser  HDR-175), although I do have a cheap graphic equalizer in the line to try to compensate for my hearing loss.  And three storage boxes full of classical CDsheart  That I still add to, now and then.  During the time I was in Washington DC (for 18 years) I was a frequent attendee at the Kennedy Center for symphonies, opera, and plays.  It's a habit & indulgence I'm delighted to be able to continue in this backwoods area, despite having to travel significant distances to find performances and classy venues.  A wonderful mini-adventure.yes

    Edited to extinquish brain fart.

    Enjoy your day and friend.

That I could understand, but we're on the red inner snowmageddon ring, and all the rings beyond us have wide ranges as well.

We've certainly had lots of storms that are the opposite of what's predicted... that's nothing new. There's even been a joke picture going around for years where the whole state is covered by a radar thing with the prediction of "possibly 0-99 inches" over it. I just never expected the weather folk to actaully own it. Follow the tradition of your profession, darnit! Be wrong with confidence!

Charlie, thank you for the reminder! While my favorite Pizza shop closed, we found a good frozen pizza offering at Target for the time being. Add some Key Lime pie slices and my flatmate will be a happy camper.

I read this too fast and thought you were adding key limes to your pizza.

Not that I'm judging! I've had some odd and unexpectedly wonderful pizzas over the years, but even the weird pizza shop had never tried that combo, and I was intreagued.

I don't have any physical pie in my future, pizza or otherwise... but I rewatched the Nerdy Nummies Pi Pie Pops video ( ) in celebration. Teen Kiddo went through a huge obsession watching that channel and then reenacting all the videos when they were a preschooler... had them down perfectly, too. I absolutely lost track of how many Play Doh pi pie pops I made by request.

    Good  times. :)

I'm not surprised Brahms' eighth is unfinished, considering he iis known to have written only four full symphonies (plus two serenades)

Rosanna is adorable. I've been watching her more recent videos in her big green kitchen. She's so much fun to watch!

Thank you.  (*Sigh*) Today is not a good day.sad  Brain slipping gears again.  I'm positive about the Tchaikovsky: Serenade for Violins, but of course I meant the Schubert Unfinished symphony, as the other record.  No excuses, just a slippy brain.  Error retrieving stored data, insufficient error checking before output,  typing fingers in motion before brain in gear, insufficient error checking after transmission.  Predicted by calendar appointments in error.  I'll chalk it up to too many bloody noses.  Yeah, that's the ticket.  It's the bloody noses, loss of blood, holes in my head.sad

Note to Self:  Self, just live in the moment, stop trying to dig up the past, stop trying to pave the future, now is all that exists.  Convince yourself.  Enjoy.

Interesting though:  When I was originally writing that first post, my mind was deciding whether it was Schubert's 8th or 9th symphony, which is called the "Unfinished".  Because there is still some confusion about whether his "Great Symphony in C Major" although finished and published, is number 8 or number 9.  See I told you the world is out of phase.  Now, if only I could have held on to the composer's name during my decision process.  Oy!indecision  Slippy, slippy, slippy.

And speaking of bloody noses, just now got another one.crying

    A few moments later...

As Further Proof: Of brain slippage:  On a previous occasion I've caught myself describing in detail the musical flow of Beethoven's 6th Symphony aka: the "Pastoral" Symphony, when I meant his "Pathetique" sonata.  Different worlds of sound.  Orchestral picturesque summer picnic day(complete with a brief mid-afternoon thunderstorm in the 4th of 5 movements) vs., a violent high speed attack by solo piano.blush  And of course I have, on occasion, confused Beethoven's Pathetique, with Tchaikovsky's Pathetique.  Both symphonies, both numbered 6.  A sedate happy picnic day vs., mental turmoil and war commentary.  (*Sigh*) Question everything I say.indecision  There are days I feel like the opening two minutes of the Tchaikovsky Pathetique.

complaint: And the question of the day in today's bonus round of Adventures In Parenting: "Why Is My Carpet Covered In Cheese Powder?"

(answer: I thought that shaker of popcorn topping that Little Dude was playing with was one of the empty ones from his collection. It wasn't.)

Pretty sure this one's going to require the portable carpet cleaner, as the vaccuum didn't do as much as I'd hoped. Ah, well, it's been a few weeks for that area. It probably needed it anyway.

    Still better than raw egg.

Unless that was deliberate you seem to have tripped over the Pastoral/Pathetique thing again.

I think there is some dispute over whether in fact the Schubert Unfinished is in fact just the Schubert missing parts. One of the completioniists calims (I haven't verified, not reading German) that he had entered a full symphony in a contest, then asked for the score to be returned as he wanted parts for another project - the argument is that that was the incidental music for Rosamunde, one part of which is the missing third movemnt; that doesn't account for the last movement, but the completionist had a draft of a finale that fitted - which isn't complete, and may not be what Schubert actually used even if it is related. As I said, this may not be true but it does at least sound as if some of the more romatic explanations for the incompleteness may not be entirely well-grounded.

Um, yeah, it was deliberate, yeah, that's the ticket, it was deliberate.

Nope, I gotta be honest, twasn't.  Sigh, I give up.  My hands don't know what my brain is thinking.  And I haven't even been smoking wacky-weed.  Must be senility is upon me.  I'm not even going to correct it this time.  Hardly anybody reads my tomes anyway.  I guess it's a good thing I'm not designing the air traffic control system or nuclear bombs.  Ignore me, I'll go quietly into the void, ... ah there it is, ... what a pretty light... oh wait ... it's a train.indecision

Almost every morning when I wake up, I have an earworm of some classical piece or other playing intrudingly in my brain.  Coffee and TV usually stops it.

I gotta get this bloody nose thing fixed, it's beginning to affect my mini-adventures.sad
