Why Won't Some Iray Shaders Apply Correctly?

I have no problem applying an Iray eye shader to Genesis or other Gen figures, but when I go to apply an Iray eye shader (or even the Iray Thin Water shader), the eyes disappear! I know to hit Ctrl to tell DAZ to leave the texture on... but the eyes disappear anyway! Oddly, the texture is still listed under the Surfaces Tab right where it should be, so I cannot figure out for the life of me what is going on. For the heck of it, I applied the Iray Wax shader (under DAZ Uber) to the eyes and held down control again--this time the texture on the eye stayed.

So I have no idea how to fix this. Is it a bug?

Edit: After a bit of fooling around I found out it is the "Refraction Weight" making the eye invisible. So how do I get a nice eye look without messing with refraction weight? :(

Which material zone do you have selected when applying the shader. A water shader may be fine for the eye surface, but for the iris/scleria/pupil that would make them all transparent and likely not being able to be seen (as you describe).

The water shader likely has the "cutout" to full transparency
