maybe it's not the geometry editor

I save a lot but it seem never enough while using the geo editor
I always save when I deleting stuff etc
But lately crashes seem to happen when I clicked on an object
But just had a crash where I had clicked on a character to delete it and when it was gone I clicked not even to doing anything just clicked on it and bam crash.
I've been wondering if perhaps the new speed of might have been purchased at the cost if you start an new action before the old one is really done does that create an issue?
Yes computers are fast but if I click on a character and delete in and a second later it appears to be gone and I click on another character and crash perhaps the program was still clearing stuff when I gave it another request (the click) and the program said "well, shit my buffers are screwed up" goodbye.

this was in 424 and not it geo editor which caught my attention
it was death by selecting something as opposed to death by deleting a thousand polys.
As I said I've always assumed it was in the geo editor because I go to select something and just selecting it would cause and error but this time it was just in selecting something while loading and deleteing figures

That isn't common, so the first thing to do would be to try disabling third party plug-ins and see if that makes it stop.
