Autofit clones for G9 hair to G8 models?

Has anyone come out with clones for autofit for G9 hair yet? I've picked up pretty much any autofit clone in the store and I don't see an option to fit a G9 hair on anything earlier. I can wrestle in onto a figure in default pose, but if I need to swap hair on a posed figure that isn't optimal.

MMX Genesis 9 Clones for All | Daz 3D

Of course, using auto-fit does lose a lot of the morphs a hair comes with, so I prefer to manually place the hair on the earier generation figures.

    Hello there,

I wrote a tutorial how to use G8 hairs on G9. It's a bit of a hurdle but it can be done. - https://www.deviantart.com/toyen-art/journal/Tutorial-How-to-Fit-Poseable-Hair-to-Genesis-9-933611835

    It also works in reverse.

    Hope this helps!

The MMX clones are to use older content on G9, not to use G9 content on G8. Sorry, wrong direction. Same with the tutorial. I need to use the G9 content on older models.People DO still use the older models, after all. Particularly when they have an extensive character library that they do not want to have to try to rebuild.

If people want to sell me new content, someone needs to make it usable. I'll happily buy more autofit clones.

    ?

MMX Clones were made because no G9 autofit clones were provided by Daz for older generations (autofit clones for older generations are part of the Genesis 9 Base package), so they are used to use Genesis 9 content on Genesis 8 and older.

I don't know how they will work better with hair than the official G9 autofit clone Daz recently added to Genesis 8.

Toyen also said that the tutorial work if someone wants to use Genesis 9 hair on Genesis 8.

From the "MMX Genesis 9 Clones for All" sales blurb -

    Details

MMX Genesis 9 Clones for All brings you the autofit clone you have been waiting for. You get a Genesis 9 autofit clone for Genesis, Genesis 2 Female, Genesis 2 Male, Genesis 3 Female, Genesis 3 Male, Genesis 8 Female, and Genesis 8 Male. Now you can use Genesis 9 outfits and hair on all your favorite Genesis figures!

Not all Genesis 9 items will work 100% with previous generations of Genesis figures

You're wrong. Clones to use older figures' content with G9 are included in base G9, MMX clones are used to convert G9 content back to older figures.

Moreover, there's a clone for G9 content included in the latest version of base G8 figures. It was added around the time 4.23 was released.

Auto fit does remove any morphs, it is only the hair custom bones (if any, a lot don't have them) that are lost.

I'd missed the new clone in the base G8s... probably because I already have so many clones stacked inside those things already. As for the morphs vs bones, you're correct... that's what happens when I start posting late after a long day.... That said, the caution is, I believe, still advised as using AutoFit does limit the ultimate poseability of the product.

As others have already pointed out, the MMX morphs are indeed for usijng Genesis 9 products on the earlier Genesis figures.  That's why there have been no other clones marketed, given that MMX already covered them all.

Clones are great for autofitting, but since autofit can change the rigging of the item you're fitting to the figure, this can be an issue with hair that has rigging for things like braids or ponytails. This video shows how to fit the hair to a figure without using autofit. He's putting a G8 hair on G9, but the process works in the other direction as well, and with any generation.

What I do is this: I take the G9 devload and make it invisible. Then I adjust the height to match the one of the G8 character I want to use G9 hair with. Next I parent the invisible G9 to the G8. Then I pose G8 and add the hair to the invisible G9.

Depending on pose you may meed to adjust the hair by fine tuning the G9 head.

Yes users have reported it also works in reverse. I would really urge everyone to check out that tutorial, test out the approach described there and see how it works for you.
