Clarification on Need for Interactive License When Using DAZ Models for Pre-Rendered Images in Ren'P
in The Commons
Hello everyone,
I am relatively new to using DAZ 3D and am currently planning to develop a visual novel game using Ren'Py. My intent is to create pre-rendered images from DAZ models to use as static visuals within the game.
Given that there will be no real-time 3D interaction and only still images will be used, I am unsure whether I need to purchase an Interactive License or if the standard license is sufficient for this purpose.
I would greatly appreciate any guidance or clarification from experienced users or staff regarding the licensing requirements for this type of project.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

Standard license is enough to use pre-rendered (2D) images to use commercially.
Right, as long as they are not Editorial License products.
The name of Interactive licences is, IMO, misleading.
Whether the created media is interactive is not actually relevant to the licence terms - the main criteria is if the media is being real-time rendered by a third party.
A VR experience with no interaction (beyond being able to navigate it) would require the licence because it would be being live rendered (and would thus require access to the original asset files), a visual novel with extensive interaction does not because it would all be pre-rendered (and thus does not need access to the original asset files).
Pedantically, then, they're not on a Standard Licence.
Thank you for the clarification. Just to confirm my understanding: for visual novel games (such as AVNs) made with Ren'Py, where I only use pre-rendered images and do not distribute or include the actual 3D model files, I do not need the Interactive License. However, if the game is interactive and includes the 3D model files themselves within the game’s files, then the Interactive License would be required. Is that correct?
I apologize for asking so many questions, but I just want to be completely sure.
The VN using pre-rendered images does not require anything beyond the standard license, the game including 3D data derived from the daz product does 9even if it isn't actually interactive, as Matt_Castle says)
Ok. Ty :)
