How to have 2 installations of daz studio?
hello.
i would like to install a new instance of daz studio. how can i do that?
i will explain my need.
i have many products between generation 3 and 4 and genesis 1,2,3 and 8
Some products are freeware, of very bad quality, installed in various directories.
i would like an instance with only products from genesis 3, 8 and 9 and retrieve the best products for victoria and michael 4
i was thinking to install the products on 2 different directories.
Is it possible to do this, without losing the current CSM? Can I create a rollback operation?
or is it better to install everything using another windows account? (Since the database resides in the roaming directory).
Thank you.

The sismplest way to do that would be to use Content Directory Manager to set up two different content sets, then you can easily switch which is current from the same dialogue (avaialble from the Content Library and Smart content option menus and from Edit>Preferences>Content). Each content set can have its own database and content directories. If you want to be able to swap content installed by DIM< as well as manually or through Daz Studio, then DIM will need ana ccount for each set with its own manifests folder (which tracks what it has installed) and using the same database path as Daz Studio for that diectory set.
a disaster happened.
in creating a new content database, the default directory was reset.
now all products, appear in one folder , e.g. the folder "people" is not divided between genesis 3 , 8 etc. but all the characters are inside... all mixed up.
how fi does it do to populate the default directory properly?
I solved it
Which default directory? Are you looking in Content Library under Daz Studio Formats or in another location?
I misspelled, I meant the default category
I restored everything by re-importing the meta data from the install manager
