DRM Items- Finding Poser Compatible Content

When I see new items in the store that say Install Types: Daz Connect, Install Manager, Manual Install and compatible software is DS 4.9, does that mean it can't be used in other render software? I'm looking at a building, yes, it's got Iray shaders but there's no reason it can't be used in another render program. Or even DS 4.8. But with DRM, it's DS4.9 or nothing? Is it the vendors choice whether they make it available for other programs?

Don't confuse DRM and Connect.  Connect is a content delivery system

However items that state DS only as the compatible program and don't have poser companion files will not go into Poser easily as they will be shipped in duf format.

And yes it is the vendor's choice whether they choose to support poser.  Hopefully, with the influx of new vendors from RDNA, we will find more Poser items appearing again.

Thanks, Chohole. Just wanted to make sure before i bought something I couldn't use.

Oh, and this also applies to older versions of Daz studio ? There's no way to download product manually and install it ? I can understand products that are incompatible with older versions but something like the building set I was looking at, you think would be usable in the studio 4.8.

Unless it's one of the handful of encrypted connect items, DIM and manual download are still available.

Now I'm confused again.  How do I tell if it's an encrypted product?  Is anything that's got a manual download going to be the full product install package?

If it's encrypted the only download option you'll see will be Encrypted DAZ Connect.

Manual downloads have the full product in zip files. DIM is just an automated way to download those and unzip them to a specified directory.
