Changing the 'Smart Content' Directory

Hi guys, I need some help. I just bought a new PC and I have extra hard drives and I want to intall daz assets onto another hard drive instead of using the OS drive (C:).
What I would like to know when downloading 3d content on the Smart Content tab, can the content be installed onto another directory on a different hard drive or directory instead of same drive where the program is installed?

Yes. Open up DIM in offline mode and designate your drives and paths there. And then Daz Studio's Content Directory with the same paths. Close DIM reopen and test one or two items to ensure the paths are working before doing a lot. Also consider if you are going to save your zip files or not. Those can be save on another external drive as well, if configured in DIM's paths.

One thought from my experience, it is easy to get confused, write out where you want things saved, how they will be named, and then start to work. And be careful of the Cloud. If you try to change it, you might crash DAZ. It messes up a lot. Save frequently to avoid losing your work.

If you are installing through Daz Studio itself then you need to go to Edit>Preferences (Daz Studio>Preferences on a Mac) and in the Contnt tab click the Content Directory Manager button - highlight the current path for Daz Connect Data  Directory, click the Edit button, and select the folder you want to use (it should not be in a folder the OS protects, such as program Files, nor inside another content directory). You will be asked if you want to make the current Daz Connect directory a regular content  directory - yes if you are going to leave the files there, no if you are going to move the Data folder from that folder to your new folder.
