2 Q's on iray texture types (uber & pbr)
in New Users
(1) Which has better (more realistic) results for hires closeups of characters -- uber or pbr? (or any other shader type I am un aware of),
(2) Can both uber and pbr be used simultaneously on different surfaces in the same scene? Say on the same figure (character / actor / model / person)?
Thank you in advance!

For a hires closeup the shader used is not the only factor, it will also depends on the textures you have and the settings used. PBRSkin shader is optimized to represent skin and has the option to use a micro-details map, which can help with realism, but you can get great results with Iray Uber shader too.
Both shaders (and even others) can definitely be used in the same scene. As mentioned PBRSkin shader is optimized to represent skin. Iray Uber is more generic.
So for example you could have the figure's skin using PBRSkin shader, clothes or environments using Iray Uber shader, and a strand-based hair using OmniHair shader in the same scene.
Thank you, Leana, for those very good answers!
