Yes, the manifests are how DIM tracks what it has installed - if the folder is empty then it doesn't think it has installed anything. Were you using a different location before? If so point the manifest archive to that.

Mermory had come back to me and I recall that the path was set the same way it was pointing to a location on the C: drive as it is now.  That being said, it was obliterated during the Windows 10 install.   I am assuming that there is no way to sync the DIM up with Daz now?

Did you do a reformat the C: drive during installation (assuming it is the same physical drive)? if not the folder may still be there, in the windows.old folder if I am recalling correctly.

If you save to a Render Library DS will create  thumbnails for display in the Render Library pane. if you save to a folder (that is not in a Render Library folder) then it won't. The choice of save type is the button under the place for the file name at the bottom of the Render pane.

False hope in regards to this issue.  I thought deleting the path would fix the issue, but it is STILL creating the files.  I had also noticed that it isn't creating one, but two icon files, one has a .tip extension on it.  So, re-reading what you said above, if I point it to another directory that is not within the Render Library, it will no longer make those files?  I was under the impression that if I point it to another directory, it is just going to create the files there.   My point is that I don't want the files to be created at all, because of memory.  Sure, the files are small, but with over 1000 projects waiting in the wings, all those little files will add up!

    Thanks,

    Geo

Don't save to a folder that is inside a Render Library. I have my only Render Library diectory set to a folder that doesn't contain any images, and have the render window set to save to a folder (which is generally a catch all image folder unless I am working on a project, in whichc ase it will be pointed to that project folder)..

I have the render library set to a C drive Render Library (the default, in fact).  Whereas my actual renders are saved to the L drive.   Render Icons no longer appear in the Renders tab above the viewport.  However, it is still creating the icons.  Now, it is not only creating one, but two.  One has a .tip extention.   This can't continue because it is taking up valuable disc space.  I don't know what is wrong.  I have the directories set separately and it is still doing it.

One thing I noticed, I had deleted all the paths from render library, and the C: path comes back.  However, I don't save my renders to that folder.

Yes, you cannot have no Render Lbrary folders - I don't like it, but it might well ovecomplicate the coding if there wasn't guaranteed to be at least one.

I don't know why you are getting the thumbnails, assuming it is only renders and not other content files you are saving there - I don't seem to have any in my catch-all folder.

I did as you said yesterday and I made a specific folder called "DazTrash" and I assigned that as a Render Gallery and deleted everything else.   ...It is still making icons in my render folder.   And yes, only renders are stored in that folder.   What else can I do?  The problem is much bigger than I thought.  I thought it was only creating icons for the new renders I am working, but it has made an icon for each and every render I had created.   WORSE, I found out that it is also creating these .tip icons in my scenes folder that have the DSON (.duf) files I am working on.  While here I do use the icons to select the scenes, I don't know what these new .tip files are.

I did a quick calculation and found out that these .icon files...with the 1000's of renders and scenes I have on my machine are taking up about 200megbytes of space.   I am sorry, but they have to go.  Just deleting them isn't an option, they have to be stopped from being created in the first place.

    Thanx,

    Geo

There is a prefernce setting for .tiip files - Edit>Preferences>Content, there is a clump of options under Thumbnail saving.

I just tried saving to a new, empty folder and no additional files were created. Please post a screenshot of the bottom of a finsied render window, just to make sure everything is correct there.

Sorry about the delayed response, but I just wanted to make sure what I did ended up working and it seems to be so.  I went to where the plug ins were and just unticked the one for Render Library and that did the trick.   It isn't making the icon files anymore.

    Thanks!
