Install via DAZ Install Manager and again within DAZ Studio?

I recently discovered Daz 3D and installed DAZ Studio and all the essentials with Install Manager. I also made some purchases at the shop and installed them as well.

One of my purchases is Victoria 8. I also have 9 but want to talk about 8 for now.

When I launched DAZ Studio, all I could see related to Victoria was My DAZ 3D Library > People > Genesis 8 Female > Characters > Victoria > Materials.

I thought I could select Victoria as an Actor just like that and by double-clicking the model would go into the Viewport.

I saw no option like that, then I went down to Products > V and saw that my Victoria products where there, but with black-white icons.

I had to double-click to get them "installed". And the icons got colored. When clicking on Products > V > Victoria 8.1 I can see the components in it and this time the Actor is there at the very bottom.

Still no Actor when going the My DAZ 3D Library > People > Genesis 8 Female > Characters > Victoria path.

Is this the way it should be, I am a little confused. Do we have to install everything within DAZ Studio again?

Check that the path Instal manager is writing to is a path Daz Studio has selected as a Content Dierctory, and that the files are not being moved by a "helpful" tool like OneDrive

If you mean the Content Base Path, it is

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

    in Install Manager settings.

Daz Studio > Preferences > Content > Content Directory Manager > Content Sets > Current Directories > DAZ Studio Formats

    includes

    C:/Users/MyUsername/Documents/DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library

    C:/Users/Public/Documents/My DAZ 3D Library

so I guess they are correct?

Yes, those are the defaults and match as they should.

    This is really annoying.

I uninstalled all packages and installed Victoria 8, Victoria 8 HD and Victoria 9 only. Then I launched Daz Studio and both Victorias are there where they should be and the actors show up correctly.

Then, I install the remaining packages and open Daz again, and whoops Victoria actors are gone.

Can one of the remaining packages mess up with Victoria install?

Are you still looking in the Daz Studio Formats tree or are you looking in a category or product list?

I look at My Daz 3D Library Files. That's where I want Victoria to be. When I install Victoria as the only package to a vanilla Daz Studio, she is ending up there. But when I install ALL my packages, she disappears from there. I think maybe one (or more) packages cause this behavior when installed.

Instaling one package will not uninstall another, though it might mess up the metadata (which is why I was asking where you were looking). You are seeing the files, when present, in Content Library>Daz Studio Formats>Some folder other than Daz Connect?

Is it possible that a misspelled folder is appearing above the correct one and you are looking in that and not seeing the correctly spelled version? Have you checked the location on disc to see if the files are there (I can't think why they would then not appear in the Content Library though)?

I am installing the packages one by one and check if the problem is there. Have installed 86 packages and it is fine for now. When I installed all packages in bulk, the problem is definitely there. So I think a package is causing this.

Strangely, when I install all the packages on Mac, this does not happen. Seems to be Windows-only.
