updating drivers for alpha and other bits of OMG

1) back a bit when the alpha came out I updated to the studio driver
2) a couple days later I log in to steam to check to see if what killed my online game 3 months ago had been fixed.
and lo, their was an update for the game so I updated it and it started working again.
Looks like wins but NO.
Because I was checking in the render tab of daz and my second video card was no longer showing up.
However gpu-z said it was there. I have a 1080ti and a titanx it was the titan that disappeared so I checked at nivida
and both drivers are compatible with both cards.
So I put the game driver back in and there were my two cards in daz and since they're older cards it was nice to have the extra processing and since the titan has 12g and the 1080 only as 11 it was there if the scene was a little large.
But the game will not play with the game driver.
---
Does anyone know the oldest driver that will run with alpha because the one I was running nov of last year give me both cards and worked with both daz and the game.
And I'm hoping that one will still work with alpha and let it see two card and render
---
So I would suggest that the current drivers Game 576.28 (4-30-25) and studio 576.02 (4-16-25) may have issues considering the studio driver won't see multiple cards and the game driver will see two cards but not play games.
Comments
The alpha requires 57x.xx drivers (R570).
I've seen posts reporting it working properly with 572.70 and 576.02
+
it works with 576.02 studio and 576.28 game driver.
but the studio driver only sees 1 card and the game driver sees both.
Does that make a difference?
Basically one hour to render with the 1080ti only and 15 minute with the 1080ti and titan x.
both at 6kx3k
--
Different angle but I don't see that cutting the render time by 75%
---
So I will go get the 572 drivers and see if that makes both the 3d user and the gamer happy (I spend about the same amount of time each day on each of them.
---
Talked to Nivida and the studio driver will not see a gtx titan x (will see all the other titians, tho).
But the new game drivers do see both cards and uses them in studio.
So they are trying to figure out why the game runs with the studio driver but not the game driver.
The program will still run with older drivers but just won't render so I would have to go back to the daz4 series to render?
The minimum driver version is required for Iray to render with your GPU.
The program should work with an older driver (as long as it provides the required OpenGL features for the viewport) and just render with CPU.
that's what I was hoping... can work in alpha (which does have some speed perks) even though I have the 4.24 open to use mesh grabber etc.
So I can still work in alpha and then render in the older ones.
I've noticed the Alpha not playing well with other programs.
I had a game and Chrome running in other windows, they were both stuttering and Chrome (YouTube) soon crashed completely. (That was with Game 576.02)
This has reduced considerably with Game 576.28 that Nvidia has rushed out.
I expect that sort of thing from an Alpha but it is also because 576.02 was a bit of a dud and because Chrome has 'gone nuclear' in it's war on AdBlockers!
the problem with the game started in dec or jan. It wasn't until I put the studio driver in for the alpha that the game came back.
but the studio driver drops the titanx gtx (only titan card not compatable with it because they didn't make it compatable)
---
it's at nvidia tech support now
but in the meantime I can find enough pennies fo get a titan xp which will work
I didn't see any cards in the 20xx ones that have more than 11g and in a lot of ways there's no upgrade in 30xx until the ones that are still pricey.
