Universal tool not working in Daz3D 4.24

Hey Guys!

I'm in urgent need of an expert help from you regarding an issue I'm having in Daz3D. For some reasons I'm not able to move the view in Viewport, even though I have the "Universal Tool" selected. I understand that when "UT" is active, on the right side in "Scene", I should have a so called "Filament Draw Option" activated, but I don't have that. I've tried several things already to fix this, like updating the GPU driver, reinstalling Daz and other "minor" stuff I found online but none of these worked.

Has anyone any idea what might be the cause of this issue and how to resolve it?

The only thing working is the "Scene Navigator Tool" but that's not exactly what I want to use.

Any inputs are highly appreciated!

Cheers

Universal tool is for selecting and moving objects in the viewport.

For changing view in viewport, you will typically use your mouse. I think orbit default is middle mouse button. You can see the default ways (or change them) in Windows > Workspace > Customize in the bottom.

If you want to see the Filament draw options click the 'General' in the Draw options pane. You can expand a topic, by clicking on the little triangle to the left of it.

Drag, left or right, on the colum of icons at top-right of the Viewport - a tooltip will tell you which does what. You can also use modifier keys with dragging in the Viewport, though I can't recall the defaults (ctrl-alt for rotate/orbit, I think).

da_kovacs I will show you what to do.

The Daz Studio version I have is the same 4.24.

I have switched to Texture Shaded in the Viewport for easy working, if you choose NVIDIA Iray View, it will be slower to work with.

Below the Pesrpective Drop down menu, there is a "Cube" called View: Vantage (LMB) | Orbit (LMB + Drag)

Position the Mouse pointer over, pressing the Left Mouse Button and try to "move" the Viewport Left, Right, Up or Down.

I use this tool very frequently to work with the characters or the Environment.

    Hope this helps you.

Edit: I am Using Mattymanx, MMX-Dark DS - A Dark user style for Daz Studio

    Find it in the forum.

    Hi There!

Thanks for the suggestions. Using the cube, orbit, pan and the other options work perfectly. My main concern is that, this is the only way I can move anything in Viewport. I can't move the environment, just the character or object directly. I just watched a tutorial recently and the guy way moving the "space" in Viewport freely, I mean just by selecting Universal Tool. Also, I just noticed that when Universal Tool is selected on your end, it turns yellow. Mine doesn't do anything at all. By just looking at it I'm not even sure which option is active from the bar..it is really weird.

Are you wanting to adjust the view, or move items in the scene? You can do the former, regardless of the active tool, using the buttons at top-right or mouse-drags plus modifiers (which you can configure at the bottom of the WIndow>Workspace>Customise dialogue - I use alt-ctrl for rotate and orbit, alt-shift for pan and dolly, and ctrl-alt-shift for zoom and bank)

    Hey Everyone!

Firstly, I'd like to thank you for your inputs and kindness to help me.

Secondly, I'm stupid :)) It turns out that Universal Tool is working using a combination of CTRL + ALT + LMB. Managed to find this out totally by mistake.

So the issue is resolved and now I can finally move on.

    Cheers!
