Installing DS4.8 clean, clean cms, config, off/line non-dim? cms for carrara?

New PC in.  wheee

Starting off with a clean install of DS4.8

I installed the CMS first, installed it where i wanted it on my E:drive partition.

Installed 4.8.  DS didn't ask me for a path to install the cms (PostOgre).

Where do i configure the path to the cms in DS 4.8?

How does carrara find the cms?

my only goal for the cms is to help with the autofit clones.

Is the ContentCluster location in Edit > Preferences > CMS correct?

cluster directory is pointing to appdata,roaming,daz3d,cms  port 17237,

does it need something from roaming?

somehow, in DS4.6, my tabs for parameter,shape, etc, the tabs are along the top instead of the side.

can't remember how,  woes.  how do i make my tabs be on the top???

bought an a/b switch rot the old 24" monitor, both compies can have 2nd monitor now, and lowered res to 1028x720 can read the small print

i lost my toolbar with trans, rotation, surface select  >.<

is there a way to get rid of thr 'what do i do' stuff?  pc not on internet.

Reload your layout to get toolbars back, assuming you used one of the standards or saved yours.

I answered on the merge script in your other thread (please don't post the same query in multiple places).

The what can I do isn't taking any more space than the blank pane woudl without it, so why do you want to get rid of it? Some people have managed to remove it by deleting files but that is totally unsupported and, as I said, pretty pointless.

honestly it's eyesore. like the flashing orange is trippy

trying to change colors of the fonts to make easier to see, it simultaneously changes colors in the panes.  there no winning today.  lol

could memorize the keyboard shortcuts for the tools.  if i had a list to memorize?

i havent installed poser7 on new compy, really miss the extract feature.

I don't think so, but theer should be numerous image viewers that will batch convert Mac .pict files (which is what the thumbnail .rsr files are) to .png.

is it possible to start a new floating pane where i can put the tools for handy reach?

2 weeks away from ds4.8, back in it again.

so, i see all the tools under menu, tools
and i see em in the customize dialog. but nothing to drag them to,

i like this bigger font size layout, no wanna go back to city street.

customizing the font colors also changes some of the window colors.
is there something to change only the font colors?

You could have a floating toolbar - if you want to just grab the grey gripper bar at the top or left end of the current tools tool bar (assuming it is visible) and drag to undock. You can create or add buttons to a toolbar in the Toolbars tab on the right of the Customise dialogue, then use the Activities tab to control which tool bars are visible by right-click menu.

 i only see them from the menu.  cant find anything tool related in the pane list.  or like a sonic screwdriver tool

In the Customise dialogue, find the Viewport Tools list on the left and go to the Tolbars list on the right. Right-click and ceate a new toolbar if the existing ne isn't right for you, drag any tools you want from the list on the elft into the tool bar. In the Activities tab on the right (the "rom" list) right-click and enable the toolbar you want to use, if it isn't. If you want a floating pane, grab the grabber bar at the left or top of the toolbar and drag it out of its docked position.
