30 odd hours and 65% into a render

    *sigh*

Back in the bad old days of DS3 I had an illo that took me something like 10.5 24-hour days to get finished. There were Christmas trees. Transmapped Christmas trees. I ended up building it in layers and compositing in Photoshop. I suspect that nobody outside a computer lab had ever heard of Iray, back then.

The room took about 40 minutes. The group of people at the table, and the table, took a couple of hours. The trees (there were five of them) took anything from about 3.5 hours to 4.5 days.

However, I know that part of the issue was that DS3 would only run in 32-bit on a Mac. Nowadays, most of my 3DL scenes render overnight. Even when there are trees.

Although last night was weird. I left it rendering, about 5 hours in, and in the morning, Studio was running, with no render to be saved, and no scene in the viewport or items in the scene list. Only thing I can think of is there must have been a power blink overnight, but none of the electronics are flashing midnight at me.
