Deforming a mesh using another object

is there a utility that allows you to warp an object based on the shape of another object?
Example: deform hair based on the shape of a hat , or deforming a sofa
I've always used dform, but I can't create a map using object geometry that affects

For a manual approach, you can use the Smoothing Modifier. For example, to make a sofa indent when a character is seated on it, you can apply Smoothing to the sofa's mesh and designate the character as the sofa's Collision Item.
