Hooking up a morph to a Bend rotation

Hooking up a morph to a Bend rotation

I discovered an issue with my Scruff conformer for G8M.  When I bend his head back to the -30.0 degree the Scruff become loose under his chin and around his upper neck.  So I took that into ZBrush and created a fix morph.  So I need a reminder of where to hook this up ... can't remember if I hook it up under the Scruff dependencies or what?

On a side note, how the hell do I turn down the select color?  That bright blue is too much, I'd like it made almost fully transparent, it's too much in the way of my work when I'm hovering over body parts.  I don't like it.

Thanks so much

Richard

You link the morph to the bend, for example by dragging the bend into the morph's Controllers>1st Stage in the Property Hierarchy while the Parameters pane is in Edit mode, and set the Scalar value to 1/30 (so that when the bend is 30 the morph will be 1, that is 100%.

So drag the Bend from Genesis 8 Male to the Head-Bend-30.0 in the Property Hierarchy for the Scruff conformer?

Use the items own bend, I think - otherwise it will be cross-item linkage and will not survive a save and reload. Not certain of that, but check  before relying on dragging from the figure to the fitted item. (It also depends on the follow mode)

Is this technique something different than creating a hidden corrective morph for clothing when a character's bone bends?

@ Richard .... hmmm, the bend under the Scruff's Head area is zeroed out so not sure if dragging the fix morph to that will do anything.

@ Barbult .... Yes, same sort of thing!

I found the fix on YouTube by the wonderfully talented Josh Darling.

By the way I did get in touch with him a little while back on Facebook.  He was so kind and helpful, a true gem.

Thanks for all the help.  His way seems easier as it's just using the ERC Freeze to put in all the controllers you need.  Now I need to do one more for the head DOWN as the Scruff tends to sink into the neck when I put the head down.

    It never ends!  LOL

My brain turned off and I'm feeling very stupid right now.  I'm trying to save out my improved Scruff conformer for G8M and well I can't seem to remember what to choose.

    Vendor Name: My Name
    Product Name: ???
    Item Name: Scruff.

Doesn't matter what I type into the Product Name it doesn't land in the original location which is here
    D:\Beta Library\data\MyName\Genesis8\G8M\Hair\BodyHair\Scruff\
    Help?
    Thank you!

Are you selecting D:\Beta Library\ as the base content directory at the top of the options dialogue?

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,366

Yes, that's where the data folder resides.

Found my way.  I just used a path Genesis8\G8M\Hair\BodyHair for the Product Name and it worked perfectly.  I keep forgetting I can use a path in that box.

Genesis8\G8M\Hair\BodyHair does not look like a standard path for a Daz Studio product. If this is something you intend to try to sell for Daz Studio, please determine what the standard path should be and use that when saving your product assets. It should be something like People/Genesis 8 Male/Hair/your_product_name.
I've never heard of putting a path in the Product Name box, but that doesn't mean that it is wrong. What folder did you select when the Save Figure/Prop Assets window opened to your OS file explorer? That's the time to select the correct path for the product, as far as I know.

The path is fine.  If it were not my testers would suggest it be changed.

    \data\MyName\Genesis8\G8M\Hair\BodyHair\Scruff
