No lights in preview.

I've been using Poser for years but have recently switched to DAZ|Studio. I'm using the 4.9 public Beta.

I have run into a problem. After adding 6 iRay lights to a scene the preview goes black. I have to switch to wireframe to see anything, but it's hard to precisely position things in wireframe.

Everything renders nicely but no light in the preview.

How do I get the lights to provide some illumination in preview?

Try using the perspective camera when you need to see things, that seems to be the only camera that I can ever see anything after I start to add iray lights lol. I add my lights last thing now.

Well, using iray render in viewport will enable you to see, but I only have a gtx 960, so it isn't as fast and responsive as someone with a better gfx card..

When I am working on my lighting I open an aux viewport, and make it pretty small(found in window > panes menu). Then set the render mode to iray. It takes me like 45 seconds to get the initial render, but after that it updates pretty fast when a change is made.

Adding lights turns the "headlamp" off - turn off Preview Lights (Window menu, or ctrl(Win)/cmd(Mac)-L) to see what you are doing better if that takes light away from the area in which you are working.

Lol..... I misread what you typed and hit window button and L.....   That makes you switch users. Ctrl L does work :D

Thanks, I'll give those suggestions a try.

For me I can't can't get any preview lights at all even using Ctrl-L. The scene stays dark in perspective view making it impossible to work in. With Ctrl-L not working at all how can I solve this problem?

I tried Ctrl-L several times and I still get this in every camera. It's too datk to work in even in perspective mode it's the same lighting, i.e. none.

You're with Filament draw style for which a distant light is needed. You can switch to Texture shaded draw style by hitting Ctrl + 9.Then turn off Preview Light.
