Which shader was used?
Hi all. I recently opened an old DAZ Studio file I created a long time ago. I'd like to know what shaders I applied to various objects in the scene. I have no idea how to do that. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Thank you very much in advance.

That depends on what you mean by "shaders". If the scene is set up for Iray, most if not all of the shaders will just be Iray Uber, while a 3Delight scene might have a broader variety of shaders used. In any event, you can look up what shader is applied to a surface by opening the surfaces pane, selecting that surface, and looking at the top of the surfaces pane where it says "Shader: ____".
If, on the other hand, you want to know which material presets were used/where to find the texture files, you can go into the surfaces pane, select a surface, and hover your mouse over the icon of a texture file.
That is in the Editor tab, not the Presets tab (which I think is the opening tab until you change it).
Ah, sorry for the lack of specificity. I tried both of your suggestions. I do see "Iray Uber (MDL)" at the top of the editor pane of the Surfaces tab. What I was hoping to find out is the material preset. I did "go into the surfaces pane, select a surface, and hover your mouse over the icon of a texture file". I see a the long path (C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library\Runtime\Textures\Traveler\UberPlus\Vol0001\TR_Uber_Patina003.png) of the texture file. Thanks you for both of these pointers. Ideally, I'd really like to know the specific material preset. For example, I purchased a product called "Fantasy Leather Iray Shaders". From the product, I applied a preset called "02 Fantasy Leathers" to a belt. After I apply it and do other work on my scene, I realize I'd also like to apply the same preset to my character's boots. Is there a way to click on the belt and know that I applied "02 Fantasy Leathers" from "Fantasy Leather Iray Shaders"?
Thanks again
Jim
I filtered the Daz store for Traveler products, and found this, which would be my first guess for where that preset came from. They have a series of products titled Uber+, and antique metals are likely to have patina maps.
Not so directly, but you CAN right-click a surface on the belt, Copy Selected Surface(s), right-click one or more surfaces on a different item to Paste to Selected Surface(s).
There's no such a function in DS to trace back to the original DUF file that you applied to the surface...
However, if you DO want to memorize it just in case... you can type in the product Name or Token and Preset file name (copy / paste the info.) as a Tag on the Surface, as a memo.... e.g. like the attached screenshot.
If you only need to apply the texture to the surface(s) of other object, just do as Gordig suggested.
That's very helpful. Copying and pasting the selected surface should do the trick. Thank you very much.
If it uses maps then there is, for example http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/referenceguide/scripting/api_reference/samples/metadata/list_products_used/start will use textures (among other things) to identify theb products used. If the shader just adjusted settings then you are right, it can't be identified.
