G9-G8 Autofit issue? Maybe?

Came across something when using autofit to load G9 clothes onto a G8 model. If I straight load the clothes onto the G8 using autofit I'm sometimes finding that I can't load the G9 mats onto the autofitted items. I can't say it always happens, but it sometimes does. I also find that if I loaf a G9 clothes item into a scene without it being on a model, I sometimes get the same issue... mats for the item won't load onto the item. However, If I load the clothes item onto a G9 first, apply the mats, and then use the 'fit to' command to move the item to a g8 model, it works fine. Is this a bug with some items? Is it working as intended?

I assume that you are trying to use hieracical materials.
It will requere that there are the right parent, which usually would be Genesis 9.
If you have autofitted to G8, you can temporarely change compability base to G9 in Edit > Scene Identification.
Or save regular material preset while on G9. Or change materials while still fitted to G9, before autofitting.
A Hierarchical Material Preset (You can see a H.Mat icon on the thumbnail of the preset file) checks if the selected item has a Parent node which has the same Node Name as what is saved in the H.Mat Preset... If it finds no Parent with the required correct Node Name, it'll throw you error message.
G8's H.Mat Presets can directly work on G9 because G9 supports G8's Aliases, but it doesn't work reversely, i.e. only backward compatibility but no forward compatibility ~~
To make it work, you can simply change Node Name of G8 figure from Genesis8Female/Male, Genesis8_1Female/Male into Genesis9, via Edit > Figure > Scene Identification... before applying H.Mat Presets.
Thank you both. So working as intended but there are work arounds,
