Shader only applying base color - no pattern or texture?
I have an environment that I purchased from a different website that I'd really like to use. The problem is the textures aren't iray so it looks kind of flat and basic in renders. I'm trying to redo parts of it with iray shaders, but I'm having issues with this wall. Any time I try to apply shaders to it, it's only changing the base color, it's not applying any pattern or texture. I attached a picture trying to apply a random plaid texture just so I could show what I'm talking about. The weird thing is, I can retexture other parts of that scene, like the ground, without issue. Anybody have an idea of what the problem is here?

What happens if you render? The Texture Shaded drawstyle won't show any of the advanced Iray properties. It is also possible that the area is not properly UV mapped, in whichc ase it won't show any maps 9or procedural patterns) that rely on the UV coordinates) - ypui can check by selecting the object and surface (which you will already have to apply the shader) and switch the camera/view to the UV view.
Rendering is no different, still shows no pattern. When I switch to UV view all I see is a blank white square.
OK, so not mapped in all probability. You might be able to use an Iray Decal Node (Create menu) to project a wallpaper or whatever material onto the wall, or you could take the geometry into a modelling application and UV map it (just simple planar projections for each direction should largely suffice, with a bit of moving around to get the stair risers and colum sides to line up).
