hard disk space and icons size
well making this post because I am just [annoyed] so please ignore my harsh words as doing this often lately as new vendors are joining daz universe. the problem is not related to Daz products as they have better policies of reviewing (though morph values sometimes slip through their QA ) . some vendors don't [care] about you precious hard disk space. examples .... one vendor product was taking 300 mbs for icons only (a genesis 8 character) and the genius puts all icons in around 2000+ X 2000+ sizes . Don't bother resizing them to 91 X 91 .
Similarly recently bought a pose product for Genesis 8/9. 70megs for each ... the D guy put 512X512 pngs . had to resize all those, thanks to acdsee a one click operation . and then each directory was about 2.1 megs.
Putting this as it may help someone. so do check after installing a product what that genius has done.
not putting names of vendors . and believe me these are not the only two cases i came across lately.
. And now don't have courage to go through old installations.

Products in the store should have standard icon and tip image sizes.
yes that's why i said that this particular problem is not related to Daz products or the products available through Daz stores. it was a general issue i noticed in other products. I am not sure if this issue belongs to this forum, but since it's a problem sometimes becoming serious, specially when one is running out of disk space, I thought Daz studio user shall know. If this is not the right forum please move it to correct forum. Thanks
Sorry, I thought you meant Daz Originals vs PA products. It is certainly a legitimate grouse when it happens, though I'd hope most experienced people would not do it.
I must admit as a purveyor of freebies I always supply the .duf.png's as 91x91, but they are close to useless with modern screen resolutions of heading close to 200dpi (I work on a 195dpi screen). So, I always supply .tip.png images at 512 x 512 or 256 x 512 if appropriate. With a 200dpi screen, 512 square is barely more than 2.5" square - and that's not huge for tired, older eyes to see the full details of a pose or highly detailed model.
I don't appreciate the .duf.png images being non-standard as it makes the library images untidy when different sizes are used.

Richard
